Jake R. Schine, 38, of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away peacefully at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL on December 30th after his long, hard fight to cancer with his Mother, Father, Brother (girlfriend) & Grandfather by his side. He was born on February 1, 1987, in Waukegan, IL to Leslie M. Lagoo-Lopez.

Jake was a gentle, kind, and loving soul. He absolutely loved his family and his furbaby Kiki with all his heart. Jake loved to make us all laugh. He had a wonderful sense of humor, very quick-witted, a smile to brighten up the room, was a great listener, and brought so much light into the lives of those close to him. His friends have all expressed how thoughtful he was and how he brought so much happiness into their lives.

Jake had so much passion for life and enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bulls, and all things Taylor Swift! He was an avid gamer as he played with many friends across the world. He was a foodie and he would eat at all sorts of restaurants and fast-food places. Jake was also a collector of all sorts of things, such as vintage toys, sports memorabilia, and AEW/WWE Wrestling. He loved to play basketball, biking, spending time outdoors and having special family time watching Marvel movies, going on vacations, and having fun at amusement parks riding roller coasters. Jake was also an extreme animal lover.

Another of Jake’s loves was spending quality time with his brother, and best friend, Lucas. They loved gaming, watching movies, attending wrestling events and concerts together. They were remarkably close and just loved bonding over all these fun things.

Jake will be loved, and forever missed by his loving mother, Leslie Lopez, his father, Ruben Lopez, his brother, Lucas Lopez (Samatha Andrews), and his grandfather, Leslie Lagoo Jr. His aunts & uncles, Michele (Greg) Dombrowski of Menominee, MI, Irene "Cookie" (Mike) Donovan of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Melissa Lagoo of Dawsonville, GA. His cousins, Melissa (Mark) McClead (Aubrie, Alana and Easton) of Ball Ground, GA, Nick (Kelly) Kaminski (Mia) of McHenry, IL, Bryan Dombrowski (Vanessa) of St Petersburg, Fl, Eric (Logan) of Round Lake, IL and Lisa Neff (Hunter) of Round Lake Park, IL.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Irene Lagoo and uncle, Mark Lagoo.

An incredibly special family celebration of Jake’s life will be held on June 13th, 2026.
