Daniel W. Anderson, 94, a resident of Gurnee, IL, passed away on October 6, 2026. He was born on January 11, 1932 in Chicago to Clarence and Catherine Anderson. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Tunnel to Towers.

Dan had a life well lived measured not only in years, but in the love shared, the friendships cherished, and the memories made along the way. He lived a life rich in all three.

He was a proud United States Army veteran, he served for two years at Fort Leonard Wood before beginning a long career with the railroads, where he worked for more than 30 years.

His greatest love was his wife, Betty, whom he met at work. The two shared 61 years of marriage before her passing, building a lifetime of love, companionship, and treasured memories. They especially enjoyed traveling together, often alongside his beloved siblings, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

He was blessed with a rare and lasting gift: a close-knit group of childhood friends with whom he shared more than 80 years of friendship. These lifelong buddies were like family, and some of his happiest moments were spent with them. Whether golfing, bowling, or simply enjoying one another's company, their bond remained strong throughout the decades. He was an accomplished bowler, proudly achieving an impressive 299 game.

A devoted Chicago sports fan, he loved watching the Cubs and Bears, sharing in the excitement of every season. He also loved spending time in his garage, surrounded by his many tools, always tinkering, fixing something, or creating something new. There was rarely a shortage of projects, and he enjoyed the satisfaction of figuring things out and making things work.

He found happiness in life's quieter pleasures, too, including taking his little electric pontoon boat out with his neighbor to fish and enjoy time on the water.

He will be remembered for his love of family, his devotion to Betty, his loyalty to his friends, and his appreciation for the simple joys of everyday life. His life was enriched by decades of friendship, years of hard work, adventures with loved ones, and countless moments of laughter and companionship.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable journey.

Daniel is survived by his children, Christine of Lindenhurst, and Steven (Tammy) of Hampshire; his grandchildren, Stevie (Kate) of Lindenhurst, and Tim (Christine) of Lake in the Hills; one great grandchild Maddy; and his brother, Chuck. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; and his siblings, Andy, Herbie, Ted, Janet Ryle, and Florence Fields.
