Lisa Campos

On July 10, 2018, Lisa Campos, age 52, of Round Lake, chose to be with God as he needed another angel.

Lisa was a dedicated employee with the Round Lake Library for approximately 10 years.

Lisa leaves behind 5 children, Zak, Emily, Kayla, Karla and Anne-Marie; also missing her are 3 grandchildren, Elisa, Gabriel and Ava. Watching her take this journey to God are her brother Mark Campos; brother-in-law, Antonio; and mom, Peggy Stupey. Many aunts, uncles and cousins are also missing her, but we all realize Lisa is no longer suffering after months of illness in the hospital.

Melvin G. Carlson

Melvin George Carlson, 77, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born June 22, 1941 in Chicago to Carl and Katherine Carlson. He was a retired English teacher at Glenbrook North High School and was a member of St. Peter Church in Volo. He is survived by his brothers, Carl (Linda) and Robert; his nephews, Eric (April) Carlson and Shane Carlson; his great-nephew and great-niece, Cayden and Morgan; and cousins, Dennis (Josie) Sell, Stan Carlson, Corinne DeVelasco, Rhoda (Jerry) Carlson and Brian (Liz) Sell. John L. Schwartz

John L. Schwartz, age 57, of Lake Villa passed away on July 8, 2018. He was born August 4, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1984. It was his last semester of college when he met his future wife in Introduction to Ballroom Dance. He and Sandy Grivett were married on September 26, 1987. He was a long time member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church in Grayslake where he had served as an Elder, youth group advisor, and member of their adult choir.

For the past twenty years he worked as a Walgreens pharmacist, primarily in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

In his spare time he and Sandy enjoyed travel, ballroom dancing and relaxing at home with a glass of wine and good friends.

John is survived by his wife Sandy Grivett, parents Dr. and Mrs. Walter R. (June) Schwartz, brother Richard (Chris) Schwartz, sister Linda Hutchins, eight nieces and nephews and a great-niece.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 14 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 18630 W Old Gages Lake Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030, with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastors Erik Holm and Jill Paulson will lead the memorial service.

David M. Anderson

David M. Anderson, 86, a resident of Grayslake and formerly of Prairie View, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at his home. He was born October 20, 1931 in Evanston, IL to Edward and Elizabeth Anderson. Dave spent his early years in Lake County IL attending Half Day Grade School and Libertyville High School. He worked in the construction industry, served in the US Army in the Korean War and the Army Reserves. Dave went on to own and operate Dave’s Sinclair Service Station in Half Day and was a Volunteer Fireman for the Vernon Fire Protection District. In 1967, he was elected Vernon Township Highway Commissioner serving for 30 years until his retirement in 1997. Dave’s love of fishing had him also working part-time at BonADon Custom Fishing and Tackle for 20 years and to then open Dave’s Reel Service. After retiring Dave was a Trustee for the Lincolnshire Riverwood’s Fire Protection District for 10 years. Many also remember Dave as an active and encouraging Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, wood working, and playing cards, bingo, and Yahtzee with his friends. As an avid fisherman, he cherished his annual trip to Canada with family and friends. He liked meeting new people wherever he went, and will be lovingly remembered for his kind and compassionate heart, easy going manner, upbeat attitude, willingness to lend a hand, and offering an uplifting word. Dave is survived by his loving companion for the past 9 years, Mary Jean Black, his children Daniel (Leann), Eric (Judy), Ellen Zeppo (Tony), David (Karen George), Amy (Chandra Govind) and Mark (Tara), his grandchildren Brad, Stacy, Lauren, Zach, Brennan, Camden, Aliyah, Christopher, Adam, Alaina, Cathy (Tom), and Mike (Karen), and his greatgrandchildren Zachary, Ryan and Carly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia, his brother Edward, and his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary T. (nee: Horcher) Anderson. Dale Marie Strzyz, age 65, of Des Plaines, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018. She was born on July 6, 1952 in Chicago. She was a former CSO with the Grayslake Police Department. Frank D. Thielitz

Frank D. Thielitz, age 69, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2018 at Ascension St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston, WI. He was born on March 7, 1949 in Chicago, IL. Frank is survived by his wife, Dian, whom he married on June 17, 1979. Judith A. Muhr

Judith Ann Muhr, age 81, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born on June 8, 1937 in Chicago, Il to Gladys Langford. Dorothy Linda Groth

Dorothy Linda Groth died peacefully at her home in Grayslake, IL on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 83. She was born on April 1, 1935 in Chicago, Il to Ted and Lillian Waller. She graduated from Grayslake High School where she met her husband, Charles, and they married on May 29, 1954. Dorothy retired from Grayslake School District 46 in 1996. She was an active member of the Grayslake Historical Society. Dorothy was happiest when surrounded by family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Groth; her children, Terri (Jim) Richardson of Grayslake, Marc (Sue) Groth of Eagle River, WI, John (Chris) Groth of Grayslake, Robbin (Scott Fenters) Groth of Grayslake, Lynn (Joe) Wells of Lake Villa, and Matt Groth of Grayslake; her grandchildren, Sarena Richardson, Tessa Richardson, John Richardson, Chris (Kristen) Groth, Brad (Meaghan) Groth, Erin (Erik Frentz) Gossman, Ana Gossman, Jaime (Brian) Lolmaugh, Jessica Kennedy, Joe (Ashley) Kennedy, Jenna (Stephen) Liles, Lisa (Mike Sinkovec) Wells, Carly Wells and Jordan Groth; her 19 great grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Curtis of Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth “Betty” A. Franke, 90, a resident of Long Lake since birth, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake Beach. She was born September 23, 1927 to Albert and Elizabeth Behm. Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake. David J. MacLagan

David John MacLagan, 66, a resident of Gurnee, IL passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at his home. He was born July 21, 1951 in Waukegan, IL to William and Elizabeth MacLagan. David was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a retiree from Abbott Laboratories after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Bears fan. Donald D. Steffen Sr.

Donald “Don” D. Steffen Sr., 74, a lifelong resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. He was born February 17, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Michael and Pearl Steffen. Don was a graduate of Grayslake Community High School in 1962 and was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church. Don worked in the industrial oil and lubricant industry and was dedicated to helping customers by understanding their needs and building long lasting relationships. His highest priority was to family, evidenced by his choice to volunteer on the Grayslake District 46 school board and serve as president for 11 years. He tried to make a positive impact for his and all children in the district. He loved building wonderful play structures (out of wood, cardboard, or snow) and creating fantastic Christmas decorations. Don’s greatest joy came from his children and grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia “Pat”, his children Amy (Michael) Vagnoni, Don Steffen Jr., and Sarah (Ken) Clark, and his grandchildren John, Ryan, Danny, and Mary Vagnoni, and Sami and Madelaine Steffen. Doris Jean Gillespie

Doris Jean Gillespie, age 87, of Grayslake passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Holy Family Medical Center. She was born on February 5, 1931 in Chicago to Frank and Edna (Kohler) Rath. Doris was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Gurnee. Doris is survived by her daughter, Debra (Scott) Becker of Grayslake; grandchildren, Robert D. (Daisy Segura) Hall, Jr and Jennifer Becker of Grayslake; great-grandchildren, Robert D. Hall III and Kattleya Camela Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Gillespie.

Richard “Dick” Hink

Richard (Dick) P. Hink, age 85, a resident of Gurnee, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his home which was his greatest desire. He was given very compassionate care by the nurses and CNA’s of Vitas Hospice.

He is survived by his wife, Sharlene Guy of 53 years; his children, Patrick and Marcia (Jason Meyer); and his cherished grandchildren, Will, Rachel and Kevin. He was one of eight children. His sister, Mary Mallo, the second youngest, told him to put on his dancing shoes because there is going to be quite a party when he sees his parents and siblings again.

Dick loved sharing his passion for music, dancing, the White Sox, and Notre Dame football with others. He was a history buff, especially the Civil War and WWII so the fact that he died on June 6, D-Day, spoke to us.

His other great passion for the past 40 years was sponsoring children in Central America through UNBOUND and hopes that this ministry will be supported in his absence. (UNBOUND, 1 Elmwood Drive, Kansas City, KS 66103)

Considering the many health issues he endured over the years, he decided to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for medical research.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL 60031. A visitation will be held on Saturday at church from 9:00am until the time of Mass.

Barbara R. Craig

Barbara Ruth Craig, 78, of Grayslake, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018. She was born to the late Kenneth and Violet Holmberg on April 10, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Grayslake High School where she met Richard Lynn Craig, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They would have shared 59 beautiful years of marriage on June 6, 2018. Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard and four children; Kerry (Terry) Miller, Lori (Jan) Rische, Ken (Anne) Craig, Kelly (Shawn) Kirby; 13 grandchildren; Marcus, Madison, Connor and Trent Miller; Shane and Brent Rische; Angela Ranck, Jessica (Elias) Ramirez, Betsy (Paulo) Alfonso, Mandy Ranck and Jenny (Tom) Galloway; Cole and Kate Kirby; 1 great-grandchild; JP Alfonso, nieces and 1 nephew. A very special part of Barb’s life was enjoying their summer home on Chambers Island, Door County Wisconsin. Reading, knitting, cooking and traveling were among her favorite things. She was passionate about life; and of course, she loved her sports! Go Cubs Go! Most importantly Barb treasured the closeness of her family and friends. She has taught us all that family is life’s greatest blessing. Barb’s story has not ended, but has left a legacy that will continue on forever. Robin R. Dixon, 53, a resident of Park City passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her Illinois home. She was born January 1, 1965 in Chicago, IL to Carl DeKaiser and Elaine Watson. Robin worked for Carson’s, Baxter Healthcare, and EHLS. John Gale Plotner, age 71, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. He was born April 14, 1947 in Kokomo, IN to Warren and Jean Plotner. John was a member of UPC of Grayslake. He attended Indiana University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He worked as a teacher and guidance counselor in Wilmette.
