Delores Parmelee

Dolores Maria Parmelee, age 92 passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020 due to natural causes. She was born on February 2, 1928 in Goricia Italy. During the Second World War she met Wade Parmelee and they eloped in Italy. She traveled by boat to the United States. They had three children, Mike, John and Denise. Wade and Dolores resided on Lake Street in Morton Grove. She raised all three children in that house. Dolores spent most of her working career at Avon and made many long term friends. She retired from Avon and was able to travel and enjoy being retired. Dolores loved to travel. We swear she had Gypsy blood. She covered all the United States and a lot of Europe and Canada. When she could they would hop in the car and take off for three weeks. Dolores loved children. From her own, to her grandchildren, to her great grandchildren. If there was a baby in the room she lit up. Dolores sadly lost her son John this year. She is survived by her eldest son Mike Parmelee and wife Karen. Their children Dan and Sean. John Parmelee’s children, Kyle (aka Che Che #2) and wife Kim. Brandon and Shannon. Maggie and her husband Steve. Daughter Denise (original Che Che) and her children Daniel and wife Jerry. Sintayehu and wife Sisay, Hana and Wondemagegn. Two great grandchildren Nebyu and Emberly. (Born the same day a year apart) Greatest x sister-in-law Georgette and husband Gilbert. Matthew Fuentes

Matthew “Matt” Fuentes, age 63, of Lincolnshire passed away on December 9, 2020 at his home.  Matt was the beloved husband and best friend of Catherine “Cathy” (nee Stein) Fuentes; proud father of Dulce Tarnow and Jennifer (Derrick) Nissen; Fun “Hockey” of Lincoln and Griffin Nissen.  Devoted son of the late Dr. Sergio Fuentes and the late Dr. Dulce Milanes.  Brother of Sergio Fuentes and Dulce (Bob) Brandt; brother-in-law of Julie (George) Bouvier, Frank Stein, Joe (Teresa) Stein, Barbara (Bill) English and John Stein.  Son-in-law of the late Frank and Peggy Stein.  Proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Matt loved nothing more than spending time with his family and beating his wife at the NY Times crossword puzzle.  Matt, “I love to read”, was an avid reader who always had an interesting story or fact to share.  He loved music and was always creating playlists for his wife.  When he had his headphones on he could be heard singing throughout the house, usually getting the lyrics wrong.  He had a laugh that filled a room; every day there would be laughter.  The world was a better place with him in it.  He will be forever loved and missed by those whose lives he was a part of.  Now he is up in heaven making the angels laugh.  Due to Covid-19, a memorial will be planed for a later date.  For information, please call 847-223-8122 or visit www.strangfuneral.org.

Angela P. Burstrom

Angela P. Burstrom (Née La Rose), age 94, a longtime resident of Northfield, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. She was born on July 11, 1926 in Chicago. She was formerly employed at Betty’s of Winnetka. She loved to read books, dog sit, baby sit and the Chicago Cubs, you could hear her cheering down the street. She had many wonderful friends.

She was the loving mother of Kathleen (Paul) Letarte; dear sister, Mary Ann (late Joseph) Bennett; son-in-law, Mark(late Karen) Werth; loving grandmother of Jenny (Jeremy) Mroch and Michael (Elizabeth) Letarte; great grandmother of Christopher Mroch; fond aunt of Laura Bennett; great aunt of Nicholas & Alex.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Werth; brother-in-law, Joseph Bennett; and nephew, Joey Bennett.

Charles W. Peers

Charles W. Peers

Charles W. Peers, age 84, a resident of Hainesville, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at his home.  He was born on August 15, 1936 in Indiana to Frank and Mildred Peers. He worked for Standard Printing Company. Charles loved guns, motorcycles and being with family and animals, especially cats.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rita, who he married in Highland Park on November 22, 1975; his daughter, Lynette (Dan) Hawkins of Palatine; and grandchildren, Julie and Corey Peers of Palatine.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A  visitation and memorial service are scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00am with the memorial service commencing at 11:00am at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Lorraine Thomson

Our mother, Lorraine Thomson from Round Lake, IL died peacefully on December 15, 2020 from advanced stages of dementia complicated by COVID.  Lorraine, 93, was born February 4, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois and for 66 wonderful years was married to her loving husband Carl who preceded her in death in 2014.  She was raised and lived for most of her life in the Round Lake, Illinois area but later in life sun birded to and from Rhineland, Wisconsin and Naples, Florida. A devout Catholic, Lorraine’s gift to her family was her deep faith in God; never missing Sunday mass.  She was the spiritual inspiration to her husband and children most of which settled in Lake and McHenry counties Illinois. Mom loved to sing!  In her early ‘20’s she was a member of the Chicago Union Station Choir. And later a devoted choir member of St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Naples and Nativity of our Lord in Rhinelander. Lorraine was a devoted mother and wife while also keeping the books for Thomson Disposal Service in Long Lake for over twenty years.  A most gregarious person with an ever-present smile, she easily made friends in any situation.  Lorraine was modest in manner but outgoing in behavior with countless friends in all the places she called home. Lorraine is survived by her sister Kathleen; her two sons Tim (Denise) Thomson and Forrest (Brenda) Thomson; three daughters Pamela (Bob) Von Oepen, Bonnie (Tom) Carter, and Gina (Anthony) Giannola; 14 grandchildren Eric (Sara) Thomson of Boise, ID, Shannon (Curt) Wozniak of Tiburon, CA, Jenny (Gabriel) Mayhugh of Chicago, IL, Johnathan Gruber of San Juan, PR, Jillian (Dan) Torkelson of Spring Grove, IL, Shelby Von Oepen of Phoenix, AZ, Katelynn Von Oepen of Chicago, IL, Ben (Lauren) Carter of Ingleside, IL, Christian (Amanda) Carter of Normal, IL, Amanda (Sabastian) Cieslak of Ingleside, IL, Vincent (Katie) Giannola of Illinois, Nick Giannola of Mayo, FL, Nino Giannola of Marquette, MI, and Skyler Thomson of Grayslake, IL; plus 16 great grandchildren; and her many nephews and nieces.  All of which she touched and loved deeply.  A funeral mass at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Ingleside, IL, and graveyard service at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery in Round Lake adjacent to the Thomson family farm will be announced later in the new year when travel is safer.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish,  Ingleside, IL. Karen Elaine Caviness

Karen Elaine Caviness, age 81, of Round Lake Beach, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Round Lake Beach.  She was born August 14, 1939 in Chicago to Soren and Florence (Sorensen) Madsen.  As a younger woman, she enjoyed roller skating and playing the organ.  She also loved animals and watching her nephews play sports.  She traveled extensively and was an avid reader.  Karen is survived by her brother, Charles Madsen of McHenry;  four nephews, Brien (Debbie) Madsen of Johnsburg, Robert (Renee) Madsen of Lakemoor, Charles B. (Jillian) Madsen of McHenry and Michael (Katie) Madsen of Twin Lakes, WI; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews, Morgan, Megan, Macy, Christian (CJ), Julieanna, Jaxon, Griffin, Josie and Regan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Andrew, and her sister-in-law Mary Lynn Madsen. Scot A. Gallup

Scot Andrew Gallup, age 57, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion.  He was born June 13, 1963 in Beloit, WI to Bruce Gallup and Judy Hayes Gallup Santi.  He was a member of the North Suburban Mennonite Church in Mundelein. Scott attended Columbia College in Chicago and studied graphic design.  He enjoyed a 34-year career in marketing and web design. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox fan. A music history buff, he loved music.  His favorite band was Toto. In addition, he was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and he adored spending time with his family.   He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jaril Faith, who he married on June 1,1991 in Barrington; his mother, Judy Hayes Gallup Santi; his step-father, Denny Santi; his daughter, Sarah Gallup of Fox Lake; brother, Steve Gallup of Oak Park; sister-in-law, Lindsay Gallup of Oak Park; nephew Odin Gallup of Oak Park and niece, Vera Gallup of Oak Park.  Scot was preceded in death by his father and several children by miscarriage. Elaine C. Francis

Elaine C. Francis, 93, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Thrive of Lake County in Mundelein, IL.  She was born May 25, 1927 in Oak Park, IL to Herbert and Hattie Peterson.  Elaine was a member of the United Protestant Church in Grayslake, IL.  Elaine is survived by her children Cindy (Randy) Timmel and John (Mary) Francis, her grandchildren Christy (Casey) Webb, Rich (Natasha) Landerholm, Ryan (Christine) Landerholm, Melissa (Andy) Leisernring, Amy (Chris) Stenz, and Megan Francis, her great-grandchildren Nathan, Charlie, Owen, Kyle, Dylan, Addilyn, Audrianna, Madison, Olivia, Natalie, and Anna, and her nieces and nephew.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Francis, her son Mark Francis, her parents, and her siblings Herbert Peterson and Charlotte Rydberg.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am with the funeral service starting at 10:00am at the United Protestant Church 54 S. Walter C. Figge

Walter Christian Figge, age 92, passed away on December 12, 2020 in Lindenhurst, Illinois. He was born on March 11, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Alma Reichert and Christian Figge.  Walt grew up in Chicago, Illinois, attended Taft High School and received an Associates degree. Walt met the love of his life, Patricia Figge, and they were married while he was stationed overseas in Europe with the Army for two years. They would have been married 70 years this December 23, 2020. Walter worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Marlyn Figge (nee Whiting) of 69 years, 11 months whom he married on December 23, 1950 in Jefferson Park, Illinois; his children, Terese Lynn Bell (Warren Bell), Grayslake, IL and Cynthia Lou Figge (Steven Zuhl), Issaquah, WA; grandchildren, Warren Walt Bell, Marissa Lynn Bell, Jessica Louise Figge Zuhl, Ross William Figge Zuhl. Wayne E. Bauer

Wayne Edwin Bauer, age 63, a resident of Mundelein passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview.  He was born on April 16, 1957 in Chicago to Edwin and Lucille Bauer.  Wayne loved being outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, spending his time at his house in Florida or on his farm in Wisconsin. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. Pamela J. Riordon

Pamela Joy Riordon, age 59, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at her home.  She was born October 24, 1961 in Park Ridge to Robert and Benita (Kuehn) Demmon Sr.  She was a member of the Paramount Tall Club where she met her husband, Paul.  Pamela took the most joy bringing the family to the table together.  Most important to her was her family—children, grandchildren, being together as “one family.”  She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Paul Sr., who she married on August 8, 1986 in Northbrook; her children, Megan Riordon of Rockford, Katelynn Riordon of Duryea, PA, Paul (Sammantha) Riordon Jr. of Wonder Lake; and her grandchildren, Parker Riordon, Conner Riordon and Benjamin Riordon all of Wonder Lake.  She is further survived by her siblings Robert Demmon Jr. of Schaumburg, Julia Schanke of Buffalo Grove, and Laura  Neuman of Wheeling.  Pamela was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt, Marion Fracess. Stephen J. Kenesie

Stephen J. Kenesie, age 91, a resident of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Bristol, WI, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Clearwater, FL.  He was born October 16, 1929 in Herminie, PA, to John and Theresa (Ostovitz) Kenesie.  He was a union president of Commonwealth Edison, IBEW and member of the Moose Lodge.  His family always came first after golf and bowling.  He was a jokester and story teller of his childhood years in Europe.  He was strict, but an “old softie.” Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Laposky); children, Steve Jr. (Linda) of Bristol, WI, Kathi Deluca of Beverly Hills, CA, David (Jeri) of New Lisbon, WI, and Theresa (Pete) Bruno of Largo, FL; grandfather of eight; and great-grandfather of 24. Felicity C. Patrick

Felicity Christina Patrick passed peacefully in the loving arms of her mother on December 6, 2020. During her brief time with us she touched thousands of lives. Her courage, strength, and bravery in the face of a devastating disease inspired all who knew her. We take comfort knowing that Felicity is dancing in heaven, free of the pain that plagued her in life. We know that she now has an unlimited supply of sparkling Christmas lights, teal pacifiers, and candy wrappers; her absolute favorite. Although she never laughed or spoke, she communicated her desires in a way that earned her the nickname of “Lissy cat” equal parts sweet and sassy. Oscar Muniz

Oscar Muniz, 80, of Lake Zurich, Illinois passed away on November 28, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born to parents Benito and Andrea Muniz on January 10, 1940, in Raymondville, Texas. Being one of 10 children, Oscar didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He helped provide for his family by working the fields of various farms. He married Minnie, the love of his life, in 1957, and completed their family with a daughter and son. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to find opportunity far from his hometown. He found a home in Lake Zurich in 1967. At that time, Oscar began a career at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Simply known as “Oscar”, his kindness and eagerness to help made him a beloved fixture at the school by both faculty and students alike. He retired from his Security Guard position in 2007 after 40 years of service. In 2008, he was given the Heritage Award in recognition of how his contributions provided a powerful legacy for the Stevenson community. Oscar was known for his love of family, cooking, and sports. A familiar sight was him commanding a grill to make his famous BBQ chicken. He inflicted his love of football and baseball on all who knew him. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan and Chicago Cubs fan, his last wish for a World Series victory was realized in 2016. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and coaching youth sports. Oscar is survived by his children Melinda Perry (Lyle) and Oscar Jr (Sharon); grandchildren Rachel, Abel, Adrian, Jacob, Ethan, Eva and great-grandchildren Anabella, Aiden, Lyla. He was affectionately known as “Dad”, “Pops”, “Big O”, “Pappo”, and “Grandpa O”. Donald W. Leininger

Donald W. Leininger, 89, passed away at his home in Lindenhurst, IL on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Don was born in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Barbara Leininger on November 9, 1931 and then moved to Akron, IN where he spent his school years. He graduated from Indiana University in 1955 and married Lettie Jane Rentschler on October 30, 1955. Don and Lettie recently celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Don spent 20 years as a pilot in the Air Force. He logged over 11,000 flight hours during his military service, primarily flying C-124, C-54 and C-118 transport aircrafts. In 1968, he served in Vietnam as a liaison between the Air Force and the Army receiving the Bronze Star. Military trips took him around the world, and he delighted his children with the unique gifts he would bring home from his travels. Thanks to his military service, Don and Lettie raised their three children all over the United States.

In high school, Don excelled at basketball, a sport he continued to play later on in life. He loved planning family camping and road trips. These trips included visits to Southern California/Mexico, Oregon and Colorado. Don’s favorite role in life was that of a grandfather. Whether it was his unique storytelling, playing computer games or a practical joke, Don brought the fullness of life to each and every visit, memories crystallized in his family’s hearts by his big explosive laugh.

In the final years of his life, Don battled Parkinson’s disease with dignity and grace. He still had a laugh and a smile for those around him and kept his optimism until the very end. He is survived by his wife Lettie and his children, Dan (Jen) of Layton, UT, Julie Vander Weele (Ron) of Chicago, IL and Chris of French Lick, IN; and grandchildren Megan, Allison, Emily, Will, Max, Abe and Van. Donald M. St. Clair

Donald Michael St. Clair, age 54, a resident of Cudahy, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He was born on June 4, 1966 in Chicago to Gerald and Sharon St. Clair.  Don served in the US Army as a CAV scout and drill instructor.  He was a member of Dayspring Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin. 

Don is survived by his wife, Carmen; his father, Gerald “Bob” St. Clair; his brothers, Gerald (Nancy) of Skokie, Daniel (Kimberly) of Island Lake, and Joseph (Sulema) of Skokie.  Don was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon St. Clair. Mark Steven Williams, age 60, Grayslake passed away on November 27, 2020 at his home.  He was born on April 4, 1960 in Chicago to Pugh and Dorothy (nee Duenow) Williams.  Mark is survived by his wife, Catherine of 37 years whom he married on October 8, 1983 in Wauconda; his children, Matthew Williams of Round Lake and Amanda Rubo of Round Lake; his siblings, Nancy Tatera of Zion, John Williams of Lebanon, TN, Terry Desarden of Kenosha, WI; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Williams; mother-in-law, Loretta Dominick; father-in-law, George Dominick; and brother-in-law, Tom Tatera.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family- Catherine Williams and to add the family cash app: $williamsfamily1490 and Venmo: @Matt-Williams-74; Save-A-Pet; or St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Angel I. Baasch

Angel I. Baasch, age 80, of Paddock Lake, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020.  She was born on January 22, 1940 in River Grove to David and Ceceile Raysby. She is survived by her children, Jane, Tyrone (Shelli), Tyler (Lisa) and Timothy; her grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Marina, Kira, and Abby; her great grandchildren, Bradley, Nicholas, Jr., Thomas, and Kinsley; her brothers and sisters, Keith, Craig, Barbara, Lillian, Art, Christine, Sam and Madge; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William and David.  

A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Lina W. DuBay

Lina Williams DuBay passed away at home on November 29, 2020 after a more than 10-year battle with progressively worsening dementia.  Lina was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Sally Linder and Percy Bryant Williams on October 25, 1934.  She was the last survivor of her 5 siblings. 

Lina graduated from Central High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Lina married Roger DuBay on September 1, 1956.  Roger was career Navy, so the family had the opportunity to live in many places. Given Roger was frequently deployed, Lina was a full-time homemaker and mom.  The family moved to Illinois in 1974 when Roger retired from the Navy and lived in Wheeling, Gurnee and Libertyville prior to building their current residence in Grayslake.  Prior to her illness, Lina and Roger enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to live in England for about 1 year.

Lina is survived by Roger her husband of 64 years and their daughter Donna DuBay Campagna and her husband James Campagna along with their two children Rachel Sophia Campagna and Garrett James Campagna and his wife Rachel.  Sadly, Lina and Roger’s only son Roger Junior passed away in 1989. 

All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Home.  Due to the pandemic, an immediate family only graveside service will be held at Accession Cemetery on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Youth and Family Counseling (counselingforall.org) will be appreciated.  Use the additional comments field in indicate your gift is in memory of Lina DuBay.
