Chad P. Nielsen

Chad Paul Nielsen age 42 of Buffalo Grove passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. He was a 1995 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, Inbound Team Leader at CDW and Logistics Coordinator at Zebra Technologies, Chad was the beloved son of John (Mary) Nielsen IV. Loving brother of Natalie (Bart) Hoppe, Michele (John Treichler) Nielsen, John Nielsen V, Adam (Nicola) Nielsen, Kim (Joseph) Disalvo, Melissa (Brent) Dominowski, Todd Nielsen and Shelly (Bill) Salowitz and the uncle and cousin of many. He enjoyed camping, being outside and loved his family. His sense of humor left everyone smiling.  Family, friends and others whose lives Chad touched are invited to attend his visitation and Life Celebration Service on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 5:00 pm until 7:00pm followed by a Life Celebration Service at 7:00 pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. The cremation will be held privately. James W. Sassen

James W. Sassen, 88, a resident of Libertyville, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Libertyville Manor.  He was born December 18, 1930 in Springfield, OH, to Aloysius and Ellen Sassen.  James served for the Air Force during the Korean War, following his service he graduated from Xavier University in 1957 and later continued his education getting his Master’s degree two years later.  He worked for over 30 years for Jesuit Universities.  James enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and volunteering.  James is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen, his children Timothy (Shelly) Sassen, Patrick (Betsie) Sassen, and Matthew Sassen, his grandchildren Trevor Sassen, Noah Montague, Tierney Sassen, and Connell Sassen, his brother Tom (Marty) Sassen of Vero Beach, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger Sassen.  A visitation and memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 10:00am until 11:00am with the memorial mass commencing at 11:00am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. John H. “Jack” Idstein

John H. “Jack” Idstein, 91, a resident of Lindenhurst and formerly of Grayslake, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Village of Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst.  He was born November 8, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Joseph  and Anna Mae Idstein.  He was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church.  Jack met his wife, Mary, at a local Young Peoples Club, where they both started their love for skits, etc.  After moving to Grayslake in 1953, Jack sang in the Choir at St. Gilberts for over 50 years and was very active with the Knights of Columbus. Jack served in the United States Army.  He began his career as a postal worker, then owned a Sinclair gas service station in Chicago with two of his brothers, and in 1963 he began his career with Frank G. Hough/International Harvester in Libertyville, where he retired from as a general foreman—all while supporting his wife and seven kids.  He was involved with his sons in building 50 custom Lincoln log homes in the area.  More recently he enjoyed community activities at Victory Lakes. Jack participated in the Rush University Memory and Aging Project.

He is survived by his children, John R. (Patricia L.) Idstein of Grayslake, Dorothy A. (Hershel) Green of Springville, TN, Kenneth J. (Ania) Idstein of Grayslake, Paul H. (Karen)  Idstein of Canyon Lake, TX, and Margaret M. (Paul) Moore of Casa Grande, AZ;  grandchildren, Karrie Idstein of Scottsdale, AZ, Khristine Idstein of Kenosha, WI, Hershel A. Green III of Washington, DC, John (Jennifer) Green of Saluda, VA, Crystal Green of Baltimore, MD, James (Arianna) Green of Santee, CA, Katrina (Russell) Laws of Henderson, NV, Thomas (Abbie) Idstein of Grayslake, Derek (Erika) Idstein of Waxhaw, NC, Isaac (Alex) Idstein of San Antonio TX, and Paul Moore Jr. of Casa Grande, AZ; and seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard (Geraldine) and Robert Idstein.  He is preceded in death by his wife, MaryEllen, whom he married 68 years ago on September 9, 1950 in Chicago; his parents; two sons, Thomas M. Idstein and Daniel C. Idstein; grandson, Aaron Idstein; great-grandson, Hennessey Christian Young-Idstein; and brother, Joseph A. Idstein.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2019 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm (wear your BIBS  😉 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.  The funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 9:00am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. Belvidere Rd. Loann Werner

Loann Frances Werner, 86, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at her home.  She was born November 10, 1932 in Waukegan, IL to Willis and Loretta Holt.  Loann was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the  Eastern Star.  Loann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack Werner, her children Ray (Vickie) Crosby of Homer Glen, IL, Cindy (Steve) Landree of Waukegan, IL, Lori (Pete) Lambert of Genoa City, WI, Cathy (Larry) Larson of Crystal Lake, IL, Russ (Anita) Crosby of Alpharetta, GA, Jack (Barb) Werner of Lake Villa, IL, Jeri (Ray) Hardesty of McHenry, IL, and Bill (Melody) Werner of Lake Villa, IL, her 26 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, her 5 great-great-grandchildren, her siblings Jerry (Emmy) Holt and Bill (Barb) Holt, and her sister-in-law Bea Lagoo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law Ed Lagoo.  A visitation and White Shrine service is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 11:00am until 1:00pm with the service commencing at 1:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Steven V. Brajcki

It is with great sadness that the family of Steven V. Brajcki announces his passing after a brief illness, on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the age of 59.   Steven will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Robert J. and Patricia A. Brajcki; his children, Cheri’ (David) Ferguson, Jessica (Robert) Berg, Stefanie, Ashley and Jason L. McWilliams-Brajcki; loving brother to Julie A. (James P.) Waterstraat and the late Robert M. Brajcki; fond Uncle to Bryan (Marcy) Waterstraat, Coleen (Michael) Watson and William Pissios; forever remembered by his grandchildren, Simona A. Berg, Maxwell R. Ferguson, Arabella A. Chonko and Ava M. McGinley; great uncle to Zoe A. and Asher M. Watson, Sylas J. and Elena C. Waterstraat.  Predeceased by Katherine Kopoulos and survived by Candice Brajcki.

Patrick Burke Richards

Patrick Burke Richards, age 67, a resident of Spring Grove, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019.  He was born on March 18, 1952 in Santa Monica, CA to Thomas E. III and Elizabeth A. (Burke) Richards. He is survived by his three children, Cathy (Tony) Gonzalez of Ingleside, Christy (Jorge) Martinez of North Chicago, and Drew (Dianna) Richards of  Round Lake Beach; eight grandchildren, Danny Gonzalez of Ingleside, Gio Gonzalez of Ingleside, Tony Gonzalez Jr. of Gurnee, Adryan Gonzalez of Ingleside, Damien Urbina-Richards of North Chicago, Garbriel Martinez of North Chicago, Ethyn Martinez of North Chicago and Dakota Richards of Round Lake Beach; and three siblings, Michael (Joyce) Richards of California, Thomas IV (Donna) Richards of California and Janice Schindler of South Carolina. Siedlecki, Elizabeth “Betty”

Elizabeth “Betty” Siedlecki was born in Whaley Bridge, England on March 27, 1924 and passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the age of 95.  She was a 60 year resident of Grayslake.  In 1945, at the end of WWII, she met and married Eugene Siedlecki, a Polish Royal Airforce flier.  The couple immigrated with their two young children to the United States in 1948.  They soon purchased an old schoolhouse in Hebron, IL, moved it 20 miles down the highway, renovated it and created a home for their family of 7 children in Woodstock, IL.  In 1960 they purchased five acres of farmland in Grayslake adjacent to what was soon to be the College of Lake County.  For many years they cultivated a large vegetable garden, selling flowers and vegetables to the community.  Elizabeth was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church.  She sang and played the violin in the parish choir for over 50 years.  An active member of the College of Lake County Community, she was a respected poet, the founder and director of the Glass Dictionary, the Literary Arts Society, creator of the annual Shakespeare birthday festival and instituted the annual Used Book Sale which funded the Glass Dictionary student scholarships each year.  She designed and managed the Peer Assistance Program which provided tutoring for students by fellow students.  In the process of raising seven children, Elizabeth graduated with a B.A. from Northeastern University in 1977.  Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her son, Christopher; and her sister, Greta.  She is survived by her loving children, Helena (Kevin), Howard  (Nancy), Nicholas (Pamela), Michael, Timothy (Agnes), Thomas (Jody); 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Friends of the family may visit on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 E. Ada Fritts

Ada Fritts, age 58, of Third Lake passed away on August 3, 2019 at Lake Forest Hospital.  She was born in Highland Park on September 12, 1960 to the late Erasmo and Bertha Gonzales.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Fritts, whom she married on May 13, 2000 in Sedona, AZ; her sister, Melinda Gonzales; many aunts and uncles; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 10:00am until 1:00pm with the funeral service commencing at 1:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd.
