Bonnie L. Rockenbach, 88, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Aug. 25, 2016, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Rudy and Madge Winters. Bonnie was a 76 year resident of Grayslake, IL and attended Warren High School, where she met the love of her life,
Doug. They united in marriage June 28, 1947 after Doug returned from World War II. For
66 years she resided in their home on Westerfield Place, a home they “built with love.” Together they owned and operated Rockenbach Chevrolet serving all communities surrounding Lake County, IL. Bonnie always welcomed family and friends at anytime into her home. She had a willingness to listen and gave out heartfelt advice. She will be remembered as the “Mom” of the
neighborhood. Her passions were entertaining and cooking wonderful meals, knitting for
others, and she loved the challenge of solving crossword puzzles. She made a difference in
the lives of others offering generosity, humanity, and kindness. Preceded in death by her youngest son Gary R. in 1995. Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Douglas A., her cherished children Gregg Rockenbach of Grayslake, Gail (John) Vitols of Lincolnshire,
IL, her granddaughter Stephanie Ponce of South Carolina, 3 great-grandsons; her brothers Gerry Winters of Grayslake and Mark (Helen) Winters of Paso Robles, CA, and her sister-in-law Marjorie Rasmussen of Colorado. She was a devoted aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, as well as all of their children. Kenneth Harper
Ken Harper, age 50, of Grayslake, passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Chicago. He was born June 1, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio, to John and Virginia Harper. Ken grew up in Parsippany, New Jersey and graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ken worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 18 years, most recently with Heron Therapeutics as Senior Director, Trade Channel & Reimbursement Ops. He loved to play tennis and was a New York Yankees and Jets fan. He loved to spend his free time out on the patio by the pool, listening to music, smoking a good cigar, cooking on the grill, and enjoying his family and dear friends. But, most of all, he loved his family. Ken is survived by his soulmate and the love of his life, his wife of 18 years, Cindy, whom he married on March 22, 1998 in Hawaii; his children James Kaplan of Brementon, Washington, Catherine and Nanrae of Grayslake, Illinois; and his siblings, John (Liz) of Whippany, New Jersey, Mike of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and Tom of Taipei, Taiwan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Stephen M. Combs
Stephen M. Combs, 40, a resident of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born September, 13, 1975 in Lake Forest, IL. Stephen was a filmmaker, screenwriter, director and cinematographer. He was particularly proud of his work with academy award winning cinematographer, Haskell Wexler and his role as cinematographer on the 2009 film, “The First Breath of Tengan Rei”. It was screened at Chicago’s Gene Siskel Film Center and many other film festivals nationwide receiving accolades from the industry and fans alike. Stephen is survived by his parents Maureen and Russell Combs, his brother Alexander (Kelley) Combs, his nephew Bennett Combs, his aunts and uncles Jane and Gerry Manarik, Peter and Peg Scurto, and Cathy and Lynn O’Dell, his grandfather Leonard Barringhaus, and numerous cousins. Robert (Bob) F. Chuchro, age 78, of Round Lake, formerly of Chicago, passed away on August 5th after a brief illness. Eleanore T. Lindh, 91, a long-term resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016. She was born October 16, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Madge Reiser. Eleanore was a long standing member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church and was a member of the choir. Paul M. Zwiener, age 57, of Wildwood, IL passed away Friday, August 12th, 2016 in Libertyville, IL. He was born September 5th, 1958 in Blue Island, IL to Dietmar and Antoinette Zwiener. He was a member of the Boscobel Midwest Great River Rally.

Bonnie L. Kowalski
Bonnie L. Kowalski, 46, a resident of Round Lake Heights, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2016 after her courageous fight. She was born July 24, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO to John and Kyung Sook Dersam (nee Chang).
Bonnie loved to cook and she also loved Disney and the Minions. She shared a love for the New York Yankees, NASCAR and traveling with her husband, Bud, of 27 years, and her family. She married her husband, Bud, on July 29, 1989 in the gazebo of their Grandpa Bud and Grandma Ruth Podhola’s home in Round Lake Heights.
She was a dedicated employee of Allstate for 28 years and had many friends that she loved.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bud; son, Steven Mitchell of Round Lake Heights; her father, John J. Dersam of Orlando, Florida; “Mom” Boots Romich of Round Lake Heights; siblings, Brenda (Deacon Marcelino) Hernandez of Waukegan, Florea (Raj) Thind of Orlando, Florida; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother; her grandparents; and her father-in-law, Jim Romich.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Barbara Drevlow for her loving care and compassion. Deborah Ann Billeck passed away at the age of 64 on July 20, 2016. Beloved Daughter of Elaine Billeck and the late Frank Billeck. Bryce William Carus, 76, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away July 6, 2016 at Burr Oak Manor in Genoa City, WI. He was born September 14, 1939 in Chicago, IL. He received his BA degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois, began his career at Stewart-Warner and retired from Alcatel-Lucent. Bryce loved to roller skate and was a regular feature at the Round Lake Roller Rink for many years. Bryce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary, whom he married at St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake. Other survivors are his much-loved children, Kristen (Greg) Gomez, Sinead Carus, Sean (Diane) Carus, and his grandchildren, Joseph and Brendan Gomez. Kathleen Ann Crowley, age 76, of Round Lake, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was born June 30, 1940 in Chicago to Walter and Kathryn (nee Kuehner) Crowley. Kathy loved the Blackhawks. She also loved to crochet and loved to bake and make cookies. Kathy had a very generous heart. Emmit H. Lehman, 86, a resident of Grayslake, IL passed away Monday, July 11, 2016. He was born May 16, 1930 in Jackson, MI to Clarence and Mary Lehman. Gregory A. Pankow
Gregory Allen Pankow, 69, of Third Lake passed away Monday July 11, 2016 peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side, after a brief illness. He was born May 10th, 1947 in Chicago to Edwin and Emma Pankow. Gregory was baptized into the Christian faith on May 25th, 1947 and made public confession of his faith at his confirmation on September 19th, 1982. He married Donna Mae Krumrey on April 30th, 1983. Their first home was in Libertyville and later moved to Third Lake, IL. After graduation from high school, where he was a member of ROTC for 4 years, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served for 5 years during the Vietnam War. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 4 years. He had great love and pride for his country. He also worked for Northwest Airlines for 39 years in the capacity of Equipment Service, and had many friends there. Greg was very involved in play activities with his two grandchildren, Maddy and Jonny, and his cat Neo. His pride and joy were his flower gardens. For 32 years he was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Libertyville by volunteering for many activities. He also was a recipient of a heart transplant and survived almost 5 years. Previous to that he endured an external heart pump for 17 months. He endured the many trips to St. Lukes Hospital in Wisconsin with his devoted wife Donna and by his strong faith. Greg leaves behind his beloved wife Donna (nee: Krumrey) of 32 years, loving daughter Deanna (her former husband Jeremy) and cherished grandchildren Madison and Jonathan Aiken. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Emma Pankow. Greg also leaves behind his brothers Eddy (Cathy) Pankow of Marengo, IL, and Kenneth (Marilee) Pankow of Florida and sister Eileen (Roger) Harris of Kansas and nieces and nephews Jeana, Justin, Kathy (Gary), Richard (Liz), and Michael (Diana). He leaves behind brothers-in-law Eddie (the late Mary) Krumrey, Donald Krumrey and sister-in-law Nancy (Roger) Santagato and also many distant relatives and many caring friends at his church where he participated in evening and Sunday morning Bible class. Friends may visit Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 9:00am until 11:00am with a funeral service commencing at 11:00am at St. John Lutheran Church 501 W. Park Ave. Libertyville, IL with Pastor Raddatz officiating. Interment will follow at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee. Luncheon will follow at church. Jose Villamil Alonzo, age 86, of Hainesville, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born August 30, 1929 Dagupan City, Philippines to Jose T. and Leoncia (Villamil) Alonzo. Jose was a former employee of Voice of America and EWTN-Alabama. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake. He is survived by his children, Ramon S. (Mely) Alonzo of Manila, Philippines, Angelina A. (Ben) Iligan of Texas, Hercules S. Alonzo of Hainesville, Wilfredo S. (Amy) Alonzo of Hainesville, Renato S. (May) Alonzo of Texas, Teodorico S. (Haydee) Alonzo of Orland Hills, and Joel S. (JoAnn) Alonzo of Gurnee; daughter-in-law, Beth Alonzo of California; grandchildren, Ramonoto Alonzo, Paul Simon Alonzo, Monique Alonzo, Jessica Iligan, Jonathan Iligan, Van Joseph Iligan, Murray Alonzo, Louis Alonzo, Uriel Alonzo, Lynus Alonzo, Andrew Lee Alonzo, Rachel Alonzo, Ryan Alonzo, Celine Alonzo, Charlize Nicole Alonzo, Nathan Alonzo and Nicholas Zachary Alonzo.
