Donald R. Twomey, age 79, of Lake Villa, passed away peacefully in the company of his family at his home on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was born February 22, 1935 in Chicago to Harold R. and Ann E. (Rowan) Twomey. He attended Warren Township High School and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Donald loved computers and was a news addict. He enjoyed watching the Bears and, in recent years, riding his motorcycle. After retirement Don enjoyed socializing with a group of friends who called themselves “The Counter Intelligence”. He also walked with a group that meets at Gurnee Mills. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Julie, whom he married in Waukegan on April 2, 1970; three sons, James (Lisa) of Kenosha, WI, Victor (Myrna) of Inverness, FL; Matthew (Vicki) of Palatine; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Irina) of Rhode Island and one sister, Gerry of Highland Park. Wayne “Whop” Malizio, age 67, of Grayslake, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. He was born on July 27, 1947 in Evanston to Frank and Arline (Norman) Malizio. A Vietnam vet, Wayne loved motorcycles and was a member of the Sojourners motorcycle club. He was also an avid clock maker. He is survived by his mom, Arline Malizio; his three brothers, Phil (Patricia) of Lake Villa, Larry (Marj) of Libertyville, and Norm (Jana) of Mundelein; one niece, Gina; three nephews, Shawn (Lara) of Lake Forest, Todd (Christi) of Gilberts, and Michael of Mundelein; and one great-nephew, Cole. Teresa M. Ezyk, 60, a resident of Round Lake, passed away Thursday October 1, 2014. She was born May 29, 1954, in West Islip, NY, to Walter and Mary Ezyk. George Patrick “Pat” Collins of Grayslake, 74, died September 27 with family by his side. He was born September 13, 1940, in Evanston the son of the late George P. Collins and Ruth (nee: Mau) Collins. Pat leaves his loving wife of 48 years, Judith (nee: Graham), five beloved children Robert (Michelle), Kenneth, Margaret (Patrick) Hynes, John, and Daniel (Monty), proud grandpa of Zoe and Paige Collins, Sophie, Rita, and Bridget Hynes, and the brother of Frank (Judith), James (Joan), and the late Mary (Dan) Miller. He was a graduate of the American Academy of Art. Pat formed his own advertising agency, Collins Advertising Art, and often told his children he never had to go to work because he was going to “fun”, by doing what he loved each day. When he retired, he was able to spend his days as a watercolor artist. His personally designed Christmas cards were eagerly awaited each year by friends and family, many of whom framed them to display in their homes. Margaret “Marti” Leider, 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Virginia and Hugh Robert McAteer, she graduated from Carmel High School in 1969. Marti married Steven Jay Leider on Nov. 25, 1972. A loving, devoted mother to their three children, she attended every school event, chauffered every night of the week and watched countless baseball games. Marti was co-owner and store manager for Leiders Garden Greenery, and the friendly face of the family business in Grayslake, Ill., for nearly 40 years. Maintaining old and building new relationships throughout her life, she never wanted more than family, friends and a glass of chardonnay. Marti is survived by her husband, Steve; children, Megan (Tom Henkey), Brian (Caitlin Zvoleff) and Nicholas (Jenny Bradley); and brother Robert McAteer (Linda). Kayla Marie Stos, 22, born March 8, 1992 passed away Friday, September 5, 2014.
Kayla was a 2010 graduate of Wauconda High School and an avid softball player. She was a member of the Northern Ice Fastpitch travel team as well as a member of the Wauconda Softball team which was their first ever Regional Championship Team. Kayla achieved North Suburban All Conference for her pitching and participated in several prestigious tournaments throughout the United States and Canada. In her free time she enjoyed spending quality time with her son Noah, and visiting with family and friends.
Kayla was a loving mother to son Noah Alan Howard and is survived by her mother Vanessa M. Sanchez (Stephen C. Lauer); her father Bradley A. Clara A. Leafblad-Johnson
Clara Leafblad-Johnson, recently of Libertyville, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2014. She celebrated her 97th birthday surrounded by her family on August 20. Clara Augusta Olson was born in the family home in Mason, Wisconsin, the eighth of nine children of Carl and Elen Bertine Olson. Clara’s father emigrated from Sweden, her mother from Norway.
After graduating from high school, Clara completed teacher training at Ashland County Normal. She began her teaching career at a one-room country school in Delta, Wisconsin. In 1939, Clara married Lawrence (Lorny) Leafblad, also of Mason, in the church her father and grandfather built. Early in their marriage, Lorny and Clara lived in various places, finally settling in the Grayslake Area in the early 1950s where they became active members of the Avon School and Highland Lake communities, as well as Immanuel Baptist Church in Waukegan. Lorny died, unexpectedly, in 1963.
Clara continued her education, earning a Bachelors Degree form Lake Forest College and Masters Degree from Northern Illinois University. She taught for many years at Avon Center School, then at Edgewood School in Highland Park, and in the International Schools of Lima, Peru, Munich, Germany, and Kobe, Japan. She concluded her teaching career at College of Lake County. She was a member of Lake County Retired Teachers Association.
After being widowed for many years, she married Sigurd Johnson in 1994. They lived in the Highland Lake Community in unincorporated Grayslake prior to moving to Libertyville. They were members of Faith Church, Grayslake.
Clara is survived by four children: Laureen Sherling (Paul), Larry Leafblad (Diane), Curtis Leafblad, Carla Cumblad (Keith), 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four stepsons: Darryl Johnson (Maryann), David Johnson (Linda), and Harold Johnson (Donna), three sisters-in-law: Delphine Leafblad, Geraldine Leafblad Bell, Linnea Johnson Domz, and many nieces and nephews.
A spirited, accomplished, and loving woman, Clara’s devotion to education, her students, friends and family will have a lasting influence on the many lives she touched.

Arthur J. Wisniewski, born June 18, 1925 in Evanston, son of Michael and Lottie Wisniewski, passed away September 3, 2014. He served in the US Coast Guard on the USS Leonardwood during World War II. He lived in Evanston the majority of his life before retiring to Saddlebrook Farms with his beloved wife of 61 years, Marilyn, who passed away December 22, 2007. As the patriarch of the family he displayed such wisdom, forgiveness, devotion and compassion, to all those whose lives he touched. Daniel Long
Daniel Long, 83, a resident of Palm Harbor, FL passed away on Wednesday September 3rd, 2014. He was born September 18th, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Rose Long. Daniel was a navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He met his wife of 41 years, Margaret, while stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base. After serving nine years, he left the navy, a few years later started his plumbing business, Longbranch plumbing in 1959, which remained in business for 36 years.
Daniel was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his infant son, Daniel, his parents, Frank and Rose, his brother in laws, Thomas, Richard and Carl, Dick, and sister in laws, Joyce, Grace, Glenda, and Lori. Nephews David, and John.
Daniel is survived by his daughters, Cindy and Kathleen (Michael), his grand children, Karly, Chad, Richard and Kenneth, his siblings Joan, Jean (Charles), Audrey (Henry) and Frank and his brother and sister in laws, Mary, Kathleen (Tom), Patricia (Terry), Susan, Betty(Ed) and David(Betty) and many nieces and nephews.
