Obituary's Biography:
John E. Groetsema, age 76, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his home in Spring Grove. He was born on April 7, 1941 in Chicago. John was a US Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Karen, whom he married on October 26, 1977; his son, Joshua (Katie) Groetsema; his grandson, Liam Groetsema; and his sister, Judy Koziarz. Friends of the family may visit on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., immediately following the visitation, also at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Antioch. Josh, I am sorry for your lose and I am reflecting on how I felt when I lost my dad. It has been over 5 years and it hurts while I am typing this message. I feel it is a good thing to feel that way because that means his life was impactful in so many ways for me and my brother and sister. God bless and I am thinking about you in this tough time.
