Obituary's Biography:

Floyd Pobre Rapanan, 52, a resident of Gurnee, IL, passed away March 26, 2023 at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA.  He was born November 15, 1970 in Portsmouth, VA to Frank and Mercedes (nee: Pobre) Rapanan.

Floyd had worked for Discover for over 20 years.  He was a loving husband, proud father, and beloved son.  He loved watching his boys grow to be successful young men.  He was an alumni and fan of Michigan State University and the White Sox.  Floyd enjoyed traveling with family, playing Pickleball with his friends, and loved laughing and joking with his family and friends. 

Floyd is survived by his wife of 26 years, Julie Rapanan, whom he wed on September 14, 1996 in Glenview, IL,  his parents Frank and Mercedes Rapanan, and his sons Eric Rapanan of Dallas, TX and Brian Rapanan of Gurnee.

A visitation and funeral mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:30am until 12:30pm with the funeral mass commencing at 12:30pm.  Interment will follow the service at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E.   5. I work at Discover in a sister team, and it is heartbreaking to learn about Flyod’s demise. Praying for a peaceful transition of his soul and for strength to his family!

  6. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Floyd at Discover and even though we hadn’t worked together in a long a while, I still loved seeing Floyd in the hallways and catching up. His love for his family was seen in every conversation we had. I would love hearing how the boys were growing up and everyone’s love of baseball. When Floyd was my business partner, he brought his integrity and overall kindness to every interaction.
