Obituary's Biography:

Daniel Edward Hartlieb, 57, a resident of Round Lake, passed away at Condell Medical Center on Saturday, November 28, 2020.  He was born January 29, 1963 in Chicago, IL to Norman and Rosemary (Abt) Hartlieb.  Dan graduated from Grayslake Central High School and was currently employed at LifeFitness in Franklin Park.  He was a member of the DOMC and was involved in various organizations while his kids were in school.  Dan loved nothing more than spending time with his family and was very proud of his kid’s accomplishments.  He was a diehard Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks fan and enjoyed cheering them on every chance he got.  He very much enjoyed going to concerts and festivals with his friends and they were some of his fondest memories.  Dan married Judith Ann DeVillers on May 30, 1992 and they loved each other for 28 years.  Together they raised two wonderful children Cortney and Scott.  Dan is survived by his loving wife, Judy, children Cortney and Scott, siblings Norman (Ellen) Hartlieb of Kenosha, WI, Mary Alice (Ray) Dudra of Chicago, mother-in-law Agnes DeVillers, his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon (Bruce) Meulemans, Marilyn (Duane) Buss, Gloria Betzinger, and Kathleen (Charles) Crossman, David (Stephanie) DeVillers, Dawn Wisinski, and  Debbie DeVillers, Sandy (Mark) Jermolowicz, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Dan is preceded in death by his grandparents Hartliebs and Abts, his father and mother, his brother Charles “CJ”, his sisters Lynn and Sharon, his father-in-law August DeVillers, and his brothers-in-law Robert “Jake” Jacobs, John Lesatz, Wayne DeVillers, and Daniel Betzinger. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Condell Medical Center for the special care they gave to Daniel and his family. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd.   14. I first met Dan in 4th grade at Avon Center. We went to school together through Grayslake High School class of ’81. He was a good guy and I am saddened by his loss. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

  17. My heart is breaking for you all. Dan was a great husband, father and friend to so many. When I sit at the bar be either at Kristoff or Lakes Bowl I will lift my drink high and say a sweet prayer to Dan to let him know we are thinking of him. Then laugh because I’ll remember a funny joke or comment about our children. Scott and Cortney you have made your dad proud, he has shared great memories with so many of us about all you both have done or plan to do.
    We’re sorry we were not in attendance with you tonight to verbally share memories, but know we are praying for you all. Sorry for your loss.
