Obituary's Biography:

Robert Poska, 66, passed away quietly on November 12, 2016 at JourneyCare in Barrington.  Bob was born on July 19, 1950, to Edward and Bernadine Poska.  Bob’s childhood was spent in Grayslake exploring Tree Island, with a pocket full of penny candy from The Old Dime Store, and building life-long friendships.  After graduating from GCHS (Class of 1968), Bob attended Western Illinois University (Class of 1972).  With degree in hand, Bob embarked on a career spanning 4 decades in the insurance field where he was highly respected by clients and colleagues alike.  With camera bag and tripod in tow, Bob combined his passion for photography with his wanderlust.  From Pilsen to Prague, Bob captured common people and common places.  Always seeking to expand his skills and the depth of his craft in large format, street, and digital photography, Bob attended workshops in Santa Fe, Cuba, and other destinations around the globe, but yet, as a diehard fan, most often found his way home to cheer for the Packers.  Bob is survived by three sisters, Susan (the late Raymond) Magiera of Lake Barrington, Kathleen Patterson  of Arlington, TX, and Laurie Frank of Grayslake; Jenna (Sam) Goeb of Greenfield, WI, whom he considered a daughter; nephews and nieces Ray (Denise) Magiera, Christopher (Jessica) Magiera, Erika (Peter) Stilwell, Hannah Frank, Emily Frank, and Alex (Brittany) Frank; great nephews and nieces Nathaniel Magiera, Alexandria Magiera, Ellison Magiera,  Piper Stilwell, Sloane Stilwell, Cooper Stilwell, and August Frank; a dear aunt, Dorothy Korecky of Pine Island, MN, numerous dear cousins across the country, many cherished lifelong friends including Kevin and Helena Daly of Spring Grove, George Grandchamp of Los Angeles, CA, the entire Siedlecki family who considered Bob a son and brother, and Eva, Brady, and Levi Goeb who loved their “GramBob,” a role that brought Bob much joy, love, and laughter.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mark, and close friend Christopher Siedlecki.  Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Illinois Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at LLS.org or UNICEF at unicefusa.org.  Friends are welcome to join the family for a memorial gathering in February.   Contact rposkamemorial@gmail.com for details.
