Stella Keller

Stella Mary Keller, 85, a resident of Round Lake, IL, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at her home. Donna M. Rockwell

Donna M. Rockwell, 84, a resident of Round Lake Heights, IL, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born May 20, 1934 in Marengo, IL to Frank and Ruby Moran.  Donna had worked for Wal-Mart in Round Lake and was known for her charitable nature, willing to give rides to anyone.  Donna is survived by her children Natalie Frey, Dawn Rockwell, Robert Rockwell, Lee (Beth) Rockwell, and Mary Rockwell, her 11 grandchildren, her 15 great-grandchildren, and her sister Beverly Hughbanks.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her 6 brothers and sisters.  A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 5:00pm at Capron United Methodist Church 250 W. Thomas G. Strang

Thomas George Strang, 86, a lifelong resident of Grayslake, passed away October 12, 2018 at his home.  He was born April 5, 1932 in Waukegan, IL to Harold and Gertrude (nee: Grandy) Strang.  Tom faithfully served his country during the Korean War for the US Army, discharging in October of 1960.  He retired from Anchor Coupling of Libertyville and helped with the family funeral home all of his life.  Tom was a lifelong member of the Grayslake Historical Society and a member of the American Legion Post #659 for 64 years.  He was an avid train enthusiast and known for his love of animals especially boxers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Arden Babcox, and his brother David G. Strang.  Tom is survived by several cousins, and the devoted staff at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.  Friends may visit on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Chester Filas

Chester Filas, age 100, a resident of Grayslake, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018. Chester was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake. Chester is survived by his son, Kenneth (Judith); grandchildren, Anna (Kenneth) and Ken (Laura); great-grandchildren, Allyson, Aaron, Nathan, Logan and Joshua. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sophia; parent, Mary and Frank Filas; 1 brother; and 1 sister. Peggy Ann Kavanagh

Peggy Ann Kavanagh, age 65, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018. Peggy was born on September 24, 1953 in Chicago, IL to Dorothy McCarthy (nee Bachus) and Burt McCarthy. Peggy is survived by her father; her children, Kim (Troy) Routledge of Ingleside, Kristen Kavanagh of Kenosha, WI, Kelly Kavanagh of Hainesville, and Tanner Kavanagh (four legged son); grandchildren, Kylie Routledge, Madison Routledge and 5 grandpups. Theresa E. Dietz

Theresa E. (nee Lenzen) Dietz, age 90, a Fox Lake resident and west Lake County resident for all of her life, died on October 13, 2018. She was born on May 24, 1928 in Round Lake, the daughter of John and Mary (Wagner) Lenzen. Theresa was a member of St. Bede Church and belonged to the St. Bede Women’s Club. She was a member of the Ingleside Prime Timers and Ingleside TOPS #1733. She loved to bake, knit and crochet. Survivors include her son, Micheal (Jean) Dietz of Ingleside; her daughters, Mary Jo (Ron) Robinson of Woodland Park, CO, Peggy (Steve) Savage of Ingleside, and Rose (Curt) Sheets of Ingleside; grandchildren, BJ (Zedd) Epstein, Jonathan (Mandy) Dietz, Tara (Kris) Wilson, Kyle (Jessy) Robinson, Elizabeth (Jason) Thomas, Catherine Savage, Kevin Savage, Melissa (Bo) McCart, Jennifer (Janson) Luedtke, and Steven Sheets; great-grandchildren, Mikaela Henness-Wilson, Ruby Robinson, Madelyn, Declan, Hadley and Irelynn McCart, Barrett, Elle and Quinn Luedtke, Jacob and Joseph Dietz, Andrew and Benjamin Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, whom she married on September 6, 1947 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake; brothers, Albert, Edward, Fredrick, Leo, and Martin; and sister, Marzella. Gail H. Ortberg

Gail Helene Ortberg, age 60, a resident of Wildwood, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at home. She was born on May 20, 1958 in Evanston to Bernard and Betty Ekstrom. Gail attended Wildwood Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Kyle, whom she married on June 25, 1983 in Northbrook; her sons, Nicholas (Kelly McElroy) Ortberg of Island Lake and Erik (Rachael Stich) Ortberg of Kenosha, WI; her grandchildren, Aubrey Ortberg of Island Lake, Adelyn Ortberg of Island Lake, Penelope Ortberg of Kenosha, WI and Owen Ortberg of Kenosha, WI; her sister, Linda Moss of New York, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Richard Ekstrom.

Michael B. Scholz

Michael B. Scholz, 73, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home.  He was born July 9, 1945 in Chicago to Bernard and Josephine Scholz.  Michael was a Purple Heart Veteran having served for the US Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.  He was an avid Bears fan, volunteered at the Captain James A. Lovell VA Hospital, and loved telling stories.  Michael is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia, his daughter Kristen (David) Schertz, his stepson Steven (Kelli) Pfeffer, his grandchildren Keira and Michaela Schertz, and his siblings Rita Schoonderwoerd and George (Betty) Scholz.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael Patrick Scholz, and his sisters Joann Kusinski and Mary Fitzpatrick.  A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.  The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. Belvidere Rd. Virginia G. Peil

Virginia G. Peil, 81, a resident of McHenry, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born January 24, 1937 in Chicago, IL.  Virginia is survived by her children Jeff R. (Cindy) Peil, Bradley M. Peil, Brian T. Peil, Kevin B. Peil, Scott A. (John Kreuter) Peil, Kimberly G. MacDonald, and Blain R. (Polly Slavato) Peil, her 36 grandchildren, her 42 great-grandchildren, her 4 great-great-grandchildren, her siblings Gene (Tina) Frum and Ethel Ostenburg, her sister-in-law Ruth Frum, and her daughter-in-law June Peil.  She was preceded in death by her husband William Peil and her sons Randy A.
