Ruth M. McCandless

Ruth Marion McCandless (nee: Rosener), 91, a resident of Antioch, IL, passed away Sunday October 28, 2018 at Libertyville Manor in Libertyville, IL.  She was born on January 12, 1927 in St. Louis, MO.  She moved to Libertyville in 1968 and worked as the secretary to the principal at Highland Middle School in Libertyville for many years.  Ruth is survived by her children Susan (Bernie) Parry of Commerce Township, MI and Barry (Betsy) McCandless of Libertyville, IL, her grandchildren Colleen Lill (nee: McCandless) and Scott (Katie) McCandless, her great grandchildren Eleanor, Rohan, and Mackenzie.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Clair McCandless, her sister Gladys (Will) Feldmeier, and her parents Emil and Hilda Rosener (nee: Hendersmann).  All funeral arrangements were held privately and entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Muriel M. Martin

Muriel M. Martin, age 74, of Grayslake, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.  She was born January 18, 1944 in Fall River, MA.  Muriel was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church.  She was a retired teacher who had taught at Lake Shore Catholic Academy. Muriel was an avid, passionate educator in the  Catholic school system of the Archdiocese of Chicago for more than two decades. She loved to garden and read in her spare time.  She is survived by her son, Cameron Martin; her granddaughter, Lorelei Martin; and her siblings, Al Bussiere, Theresa Noel, Jackie Gates, and Diane Leonardo.  Friends of the family may visit from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Richard A. Novak

Richard A. Novak, age 83, resident of Madrona Village, Round Lake, IL, passed away October 8, 2018 in Advocate Condell Hospital, Libertyville. He was an only child, born August 14, 1935 at Oak Park Hospital to Anton and Josephine Novak. It was a life filled with laughter, love, varied interests, challenges, sprinkled with bouts of stubbornness and courage of his convictions. He was a man with many interests and talents. He golfed, played volleyball, racquetball, and softball, traveled and played in numerous bowling leagues with his father throughout the years. He, family and friends enjoyed many weekends boating and fishing on Lake Geneva. He served stateside in the military during the time of the Korean conflict and was an active member of American Legion Post 626 in Hillside. He is survived by his wife, Judi of 35 years, two daughters Lisa (Brad) Sampson, and Alison (Steve) Wesolek. His extended blended family includes grandchildren Brittney (AJ), Branden (Krystal) Matthew (Cindi), Steven (Crista), Jason along with great grandchildren, Chase, Cayden, Evie, Josh, and the newest member, Josie, born on his birthday this year. Preceding him in death were his parents and extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. A private Celebration of Life Memorial was held Oct 12. Daniel Diaz

Daniel Diaz, 30, a resident of Chicago, IL, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home.  He was born January 24, 1988 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Marisol Diaz.  Daniel is survived by his father and stepmother Robert and Chantha Diaz, his grandparents Concepsion Diaz and Geronima Bahena, his siblings Robert Diaz Jr., Prescila Diaz, Jenifer Diaz, and Sofia Diaz, and his aunts Veronica Valenzuela and Graciela Verduzco.  He was preceded in death by his mother Marisol and his grandma Rosa Verduzco.  A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a funeral service commencing at 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Lynn M. Jacobs

Lynn M. Jacobs, 67, a resident of Wildwood, IL, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at her home. She was born May 21, 1951 in Chicago to Norman and Rosemary (nee: Abt) Hartlieb. Lynn was a diehard Bulls, Cubs, and Bears fan, an avid reader, but most of all loved spending time with her family. Lynn is survived by her siblings Norman (Ellen) Hartlieb of Kenosha, Mary Alice (Ray) Dudra of Chicago, and Dan (Judy) Hartlieb of Round Lake, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jake, her parents, her brother Charles “CJ”, and her sister Sharon. Rosalind M. Schmies

Rosalind M. Schmies (Hess) was born on August 25, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI. Beloved daughter of Harry and Eva Hess, loving sister of Daniel Hess and wife of William W. Schmies passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 surrounded by love.  Rosalind is survived by her loving children, Cynthia Holm (Bob), Lynda Turney (Dee), Karla Donohue (Michael) and Sarah Gerdes (Neal); her twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Rosalind attended the University of California, Berkeley for one year prior to returning home, meeting William Schmies and raising a family together in Des Plaines, IL for the majority of their lives. Rosalind was a selfless, loving mother who loved to travel, garden and cook, always putting her family first. She was a nurturing soul who greatly enriched all of the lives that she touched and will be missed greatly. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 12:30pm-2:00pm with a service immediately following 2:00pm – 3:00pm at The Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Pastor Trish will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rosalind’s life. Burial will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 10:30am at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Janet K. Morris

Janet Kay Morris, 56, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville. She was born on December 6, 1961 in Waukegan to Larry Gene and Barbara Hermon. Janet is survived by her husband, Ralph, of 32 years; her father, Larry Gene Hermon; her children, Cynthia Ryckman of Grayslake, Justin (Gina) Morris of Valdosta, GA, and Brandon Morris of Grayslake; her grandchildren, Griffin Ryckman, Theresa Morris, Audrey Morris and Joseph Morris; and sisters, Pam Hermon of West Dundee and Chery Hermon of Lake in the Hills. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hermon. Donna M. Rockwell

Donna M. Rockwell, 84, a resident of Round Lake Heights, IL, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born May 20, 1934 in Marengo, IL to Frank and Ruby Moran.  Donna had worked for Wal-Mart in Round Lake and was known for her charitable nature, willing to give rides to anyone.  Donna is survived by her children Natalie Frey, Dawn Rockwell, Robert Rockwell, Lee (Beth) Rockwell, and Mary Rockwell, her 11 grandchildren, her 15 great-grandchildren, and her sister Beverly Hughbanks.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her 6 brothers and sisters.  A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 5:00pm at Capron United Methodist Church 250 W.
