Starlett Elaine Kurek

Starlett Elaine Kurek, a resident of Lexington, SC, passed away September 4, 2013, at her home surrounded by her husband and 3 daughters, at the age of 63. She was born May 23, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Carl Edward Pence and Mary Louise (nee: Reed) Pence. Starlett enjoyed playing bingo, music, Christmas and spoiling her grandkids. Starlett is survived by her husband of 42 years, Paul Micheal Kurek, whom she wed on November 21, 1970 in Chicago, IL, her children Kimberly L.(Shane) Ingram of Geneva, IL, Candice C. (Edward) Wilson of Warner Robins, GA, Paula (Dennis) Thul of Lake Villa, IL, her grandchildren Nautyca Lynne Thul, Jaidyn Leigh Thul, Hannah Jane Wilson, Emily Christine Wilson, and Kerry Andrew Wilson, her siblings Robert E. (Sandra) Pence of Gurnee, IL, Theodore E. (Patricia) Pence of Chicago, IL, Micheal D. (Evelyn) Pence of Niles, IL, Sandra R. (Hubert) Baumgardner of Wheeling, IL, and Larry A. (Lynn) Pence of Bloomingdale, IL. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald L. (Charlene) Pence of Midlothian, IL and her parents. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday October 6, 2013 from 11:30am until 12:30pm at Oakridge Glen Oaks Cemetery 4301 W. Roosevelt Rd. Hillside, IL 60162. Please meet in the parking lot and follow to the gravesites of Carl and Mary Pence for the service.

Jack M. Davis

Jack M. Davis, 60, of Grayslake, IL, passed away Monday September 16th at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. He was born July 15th, 1953 in Libertyville, IL, the son of Julian (Jack) and Helen nee Vice. Jack graduated from Grayslake High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from Illinois State University.

Jack lived in Bloomington, IL, and worked for the City of Normal until moving to California in 1987. He worked for the California Department of Corrections until his retirement in 2006. Jack was an avid world traveler and reader. He enjoyed attending live music events and spending time with his family and myriad friends.

Jack is survived by three sisters, Sandra Cosner of Wildwood, IL, Dawn Costa (nee Behm) of Gurnee, IL, and Kathy (Kevin) Johnson (nee Behm) of Bloomington, IL; his nephews Joshua Cosner, Seth Cosner, LCPL Vince Costa, and Nash Johnson; and niece Reece Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5th at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 31 Park Ave., Grayslake, IL. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Thomas G. Wylie

Thomas G. Wylie (Tom; Pops)  59 years old and a  resident of Lake Villa, passed away on  Friday, September 20, 2013 at Centegra Medical Center, in McHenry, IL.  He was born in Chicago, IL on September 19, 1954. Tom was a school bus driver for Durham School Services. Tom also worked in the meat department at Jewel in Round Lake Beach.  He was active in Boy Scout Troup 85.  He is survived by his wife, Victoria who he married on April 6, 1985. Also surviving are his children Samual (Cracker) Wylie, Angela (A.J) (Jason) Mattox, Melissa (Missy) (Ryan) Carlson, Scott (Kara) Phillips, and Joe (Toby) Phillips. He is survived by 13 Grandchildren, his parents Raymond and Marion, and his sister Sue (Dan) Sheehan. Friends of the family may visit at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Thomas C. Glowinski

Thomas C. Glowinski, a 70-year-old Round Lake resident, passed away on Sat. Sep. 21, 2013 at Highland Park Hospital.  He was born in Chicago on May 29, 1943 to the now late Louis and Helen {nee Petroff} Glowinski.  Tom was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, loved to golf, and was an automobile enthusiast.  He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, enlisting in the Marine Corps in December 0f 1961, and returning home after four tours in 1966.  Tom was the beloved husband of 49 years to Patricia {nee Rylko}, whom he wed on May 9, 1964 in Chicago; the loving father of Pamela (Mark) Muncy, Jason (Kelly) Glowinski, and Amanda (Adam) Gage; cherished grandfather of Courtney, Devin, Ashley, Tyler, Evan, and Samuel; doting master of his dear Munchie.  Tom was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Samantha and Emilie.  Friends of the family may join them for memorial visitation on Thu. Ruth H. Larsen

Ruth H. Larsen, an 81-year-old resident of Mundelein and formerly of Saddlebrook Farms in Grayslake, passed away Monday September 16, 2013.  She was born September 29, 1931 in Chicago to the now late Frank and Helen Blomgren.  Ruth volunteered with Meals on Wheels and loved getting together with her Amundsen High School girlfriends to play poker.  She was employed as a dental assistant for many years.  Ruth is survived by her daughters Janet (Eric) Winograd and Lori (James) Compiani, her grandchildren Todd, Timothy, Emily Winograd, and Scott and Steven Compiani, her great-grandsons Tyler and Cooper, and her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband John “Jack” Larsen Jr., and her brother Howard.   Friends of the family may visit Saturday September 21, 2013 from 10:00am until 11:00 am with a memorial service to commence at 11:00am at Hope Presbyterian Church, 32475 Alleghany Road Grayslake, IL 60030.  Interment will be held privately.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium in Grayslake.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org,  or to Advocate Hospice, www.advocatehealth.com/Hospice.  For information, call 847-223-8122 or visit www.strangfuneral.org.

Stephen “Stevie” H. Werner

Stephen “Stevie” H. Werner Jr, age 31, died suddenly at his home in Fox Lake, IL on Sep. 14, 2013.  He worked for 13 years at TechStar America Corp in Hainesville, IL.  Survivors include his mother Jean Werner; sister Angela Werner; brother Stuart Werner of Antioch, IL; father Stephen (Catherine) Werner of Twin Lakes, WI; his loving grandmother Sallie Fagan  & Uncle Michael (Maria) Werner of Ingleside, IL; Uncle Ron (Cathy) Werner of Wadsworth, IL; Uncle E.J. Lee Jean A. White

Lee Jean Ann White, a 75-year-old longtime Park City resident, passed away on Monday, Sep. 16, 2013 at Presence Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines.  She was born in Chicago on May 19, 1938.  Lee Jean’s favorite pastime was to go to the casino with her best friend Dolores, and was an avid computer gamer.  She was the beloved mother of Laura (John) Bennett, Patty Moynihan-Bolt, Kelley Moynihan-Heinold, and Joseph (Chris) Moynihan as well as step-mother of Jerry Nicholas Jr., Tina (Rich) Williams, Andrew (Stacey) Nicholas, and Jason Nicholas; loving grandmother of Christine (Matt) Potts, Joshua Moynihan, John Bennett, Tabitha (Chris) Austin, Trisha (Michael) Donovan, Ashley (Levi) Alvarado, Amber Heinold, Alisha Heinold, and Brandon Heinold; doting great-grandmother of Gage, Matthew, Richard, Connor, Audrey, Lucas, TarynAnn, Michael Seth, Aydin, Antonio, and Karmah; sister-in-law of Pat White; fond former spouse of the father of her children Gerald (Natalie) Moynihan.  Her brother David White preceded her in death.  All services will be held privately.  Arrangements were entrusted to STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Richard S. Merker

Richard Stephen Merker a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away Monday September 16, 2013 at the age of 64. He was born September 30, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Leo and Delores (nee: Borscha) Merker. Richard was a member of the Jay Cees. He loved to fish, bake, and was a lover of animals. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Merker, whom he wed on October 1, 1966 in Chicago, his daughter Sandra Merker of Lake Zurich, his sister Kathleen Uptagraw of Wisconsin, and his brother James Merker of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Michelle Lange. Lois A. Shadron

Lois A. Shadron was called home to God on September 11, 2013 at the age of 84. Preceded in death by her parents Walter and Nellie Geise. Beloved by her late husband, Warren R. Shadron of Warren Electric. Loving mother to Linda (Jerry) Herron and Kieran (Sue) Kirby and grandmother to Sean and Lauren Kirby. Her banking career spanned over 20 years at Grayslake National Bank. She was also a member of the Shriners Sahib Temple in Sarasota, Florida with her late husband.
