Sylvia Stenson

Obituary's Biography:

Sylvia (nee Davis) Stenson, age 85, a resident of Grayslake, passed away on January 25, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1936 in Chicago to Bob and Mary (nee Steiskal) Davis.  She was the oldest of two children with one brother, Bob.  She was married to her husband Earl Stenson, October 21, 1961 and they were married for 33 years.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother to eight, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.  She was blessed to have wonderful relationships with her extended family acting as the ‘glue’ that kept everyone connected.  She loved to sew, garden, research her family tree, and was always working on creative projects.  Her fondest times were spent traveling to places like London, Hawaii, Disney, and Alaska.  She loved visiting family and friends across Illinois, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and Minnesota, and doting upon her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. 

Sylvia is survived by her children, Mary (Bob) McKay, Jeanne (Brian) Grimes, and Lee Stenson; her grandchildren, Kady Stenson, Bryan McKay, Gabrielle Stenson, Colin McKay, Shannon McKay, Kaitlyn Grimes, Nicole Grimes and Tessa Grimes; and her brother, Robert “Butch” (Betsy McCluskey) Davis.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, David Duane; her daughter, Mary Jean and granddaughter,Therese Nicole. 

A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4:00-7:00pm.  There will be a short funeral service at 7:00pm following the visitation.
