Sylvia M. Surek, 93, a resident of Round Lake, IL, passed away November 12, 2020 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born May 4, 1927 in Michigan City, IN to Walter and Hattie Gliniewicz. Sylvia enjoyed crafting, knitting, quilting, and crocheting. Sylvia is survived by her children Terry (Shirley) Surek, Wayne (Lucia) Surek, Christine Schad, Patricia (Philip) Auvil, Sherrie Schlichtenmyer, and Stephen Surek, her grandchildren Heidi (Chris) Baker, Neil (Amanda) Rubel, Linda (Tom) Auld, Mindy (Mike) Foster, Christopher Matthews, and Misty Schlichtenmyer, her great-grandchildren Erin, Jessica, Brian, Jacob, London, Hiram, and Mateo, and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Casimir Surek, her great-grandson Philip, and her 12 brothers and sisters. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 2020 at 9:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church 114 N. Lincoln Ave. Round Lake, IL 60073. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.
