Obituary's Biography:

John L. Keefe, age 86, of Grayslake passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Addolorata Villa in Wheeling. He was born May 6, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Diemert) Keefe. For 25 years, Jack worked at Abbott Labs, retiring in 1993. Jack loved to ski, boat, and do other outside activities. He also played cards with his sons and grandchildren, but most of all Jack enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Margy of Palatine, Larry (Gigi) of Grand Rapids, MI, Kevin (Marianne) of Downers Grove, Ginny (Dan) Wiemerslage, of Gurnee, Katy (Paul) Baumgartner of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Patty (Hal) Sloan of Grayslake and Johnny (Mary) of Downers Grove; his grandchildren, Sara, Conor, Lauren, Patrick, Brian (fiancé Lydia Lindenberg) Keefe, Kyle, Adam and Julie Wiemerslage and Jamie, Jerry, Mary Jo and Claire Baumgartner, Scott (fiancé Catherine Berkemeyer), Laura and Kevin Sloan, and Michael and Cate Cetta. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Sr. Margaret Kerr of Cleveland, Ohio. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Mary, and one sister, Pat Flynn. Friends of the family may visit from 2 pm until 6 pm on Sunday March 15, 2015 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. The funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, 301 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Annunciation Cemetery in Mundelein. Memorials in John’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or to Addolorata Villa in Wheeling.
