Obituary's Biography:

Daniel J. Lahey, 51, a resident of Round Lake, IL, passed away December 20, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  He was born June 27, 1970 in Libertyville to Donald and Sheila Lahey. 

Dan graduated from Grayslake Community, Class of 1988. He continued his vocational education through his previous employer, Pauly Honda, in Libertyville, where he worked as an auto mechanic for two decades. He was employed by Home Depot in Round Lake the last several years of his life.  He enjoyed snowmobiling, antique slot machines and was an avid gun enthusiast.  He had a lifelong affinity for dogs of all kinds and never met one he didn’t like.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Daniel is survived by his children Nicole Lahey, Riley Lahey, and Aiden Lahey, his siblings Dale (Angelo) Caliendo, and Susan (Bill) Ryan, his nieces Christina Green and Kelly Ryan, and his nephew Steven Amann.  He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Sheila Lahey, his brother Steven R. Lahey, and his nephew Christopher Lahey.  A memorial visitation is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  Interment will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save-A-Pet Inc., 31664 N. Fairfield Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 or your charity of choice. 

Please note: Masks will be required for all attendees, unvaccinated and vaccinated alike.

  1. Danny worked with me several years ago on restoration of a lake shoreline and did a wonderful job. The native wildflowers will survive much longer than us. He would like that. I will miss him as a very generous and friendly neighbor on Highland Lake. I extend my respect to his family. Sincerely Davè Eubanks
