  1. I met Cole when he was 6 years old, I remember standing in-line waiting for Bella and Erica to come out of preschool, while this positively energetic and most kind boy sat patiently waiting with Amy. As Cole grew, he developed into the most caring and nonjudgmental person. My son, Ryan, valued and looked up to him, and Cole was nothing but kind to my kids, and everyone from babies, toddlers, teens, adults, grandparents, he stood out for his kindness and loving personality.

When I heard the news I pulled over on the side of the road, and was devastated, and asking Why does God take those that have so much more to give to the world… Cole without a doubt touched everyone he met and was a huge, positive impact within the Grayslake schools and community. We can all learn from Cole’s beautiful heart and carry a piece of him through each of us, by just being kind and understanding to one another. Amy and Ted are the most attentive and supportive parents, and have always been there for their kids, family, friends, and community. Bella and Cole loved each other and you could see when they were around each other, how they protected and encouraged each other. I have confidence Grayslake will rally around the Adkins during this most difficult time. We are praying for Ted, Amy, Bella, and their extended families and friends. As my family shared stories of Cole, forgetting how many we had, each of us are heartbroken for his loss, and consider it a gift to have known him. As the poem “Footprints in the Sand” 👣 goes, God must carry the Adkins family during this time and beyond.

Adkins Family, we are all here for you.
Love to you all, The Heavrins
