Obituary's Biography:

Doris Lucille (Baarstad) Ruback, age 94, of Grayslake and formerly of Genoa and the Rockford area, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at her home in Grayslake.  She was born on January 26, 1921 in Thordenjold Township, North Dakota, the youngest of 10 children of Frederick and Pauline (Boxrud) Baarstad.  She was a member of Lord of Glory Lutheran Church in Grayslake and a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa.  Doris enjoyed dancing, bowling, golfing, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls, and anything her grandchildren were involved in.  She worked in the banking service industry for many years.  She is survived by her son, Gail (Carol); five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was loved by many and known as Grandma D to countless friends of all of her grandchildren.  Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chet; son, Dennis; and eight brothers and sisters.  Friends of the family may visit from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, 607 West Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 with the funeral service commencing at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Brian Davies officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 Illinois Route 76 in Belvidere, IL.  Memorial donations in Doris’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International, Suite 125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.  Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  For more information please log onto www.strangfuneral.org or call (847)223-8122.
