Shirley R. Valdez

Obituary's Biography:

Shirley Rita Valdez, 93, a resident of Long Grove and formerly of Cape Coral, FL and Oak Lawn, IL, passed away at New Perspective in Long Grove, IL.  She was born December 20, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Marceline (nee: Moody) and Jerry Cosidine.

Shirley is survived by her daughter Mary Kay (Kurt) Kolseth of Hawthorn Woods, IL, her grandchildren Nolan (Ashley) Swanlund of Lake Zurich, IL, Kevin Swanlund of Beach Park, IL, Brett Swanlund of Grayslake, and Jeff Swanlund of South Elgin, IL, her great-grandsons Samuel and Matthew Swanlund, and her sister-in-law Linda Considine of Venice Beach, FL.  She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin F. Valdez and her brother Jerry Considine.

A memorial mass is scheduled for August 22, 2025, at St. Mary Parish 10 N. Buffalo Grove Rd. Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 at 11:00am.  The burial is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southwest Florida Lighthouse for the Blind.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E.
