Mary Louise Freundt

Obituary's Biography:

Mary Louise Freundt, age 82, of Long Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. She was born on February 5, 1943, in Waukegan, IL, to Arthur and Mary C. (née Repas) Holt.

Mary Lou graduated from Warren Township High School in 1961 and went on to marry William E. Freundt on August 12, 1961. Together Mary Lou and Bill raised their family in Wildwood, IL and celebrated 54 years of marriage until the passing of Bill in 2016. Mary Lou had a deep passion for creativity. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and crafting, and found joy in playing the guitar and writing poetry. Above all, she cherished her late husband and devoted herself to her beloved children and grandchildren.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mary Lou is survived by her children, Cathy (Ken) Laurel of Antioch, William A. (Doreen) of Port Charlotte, FL, Thomas C. of Fox Lake, Lora (Vernon) Browne of Spring Grove; her grandchildren, James Browne, Kyle (Emily) Laurel, Brittany (Brandon) O’Berry, Cailee (Joseph) Carlborg, Valerie (Cody) Gault, Zachary Freundt, and Alex (Monique) Freundt; and 2 great grandsons, Cameron and Bennet and a great granddaughter Lily due in September; her siblings, James G. (Debra) Holt of Florida, Thomas E. (Tamara) Holt of Fox Lake, Timothy D. (Betty) Holt of Antioch; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William E. Freundt; sisters, Mary Catherine Holt and Rev Josette Martins; and brothers, Arthur C. Holt, John A. Holt, and Richard A. Holt.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch IL 60002. Interment to follow at Warren Cemetery, 1475 N.
