Joan D. Schilling

Obituary's Biography:

Joan D. Schilling, 81, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away May 19, 2025, at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born January 2, 1944, in New York, NY to Henry and Bertha Drewes.

Joan enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening.  She donated many of her knitted and crocheted clothing to Knits for Kids.  Joan also enjoyed working at her daughter’s candle shop in downtown Grayslake, Romney Brown Candle Company.

Joan is survived by her husband of 60 and ½ years, Bob Schilling, her daughters Patty Brown and Nancy (Bob Vasilopulos) Powers, and her grandchildren Emma Cappa, Ryan Brown, Sofi Brown, and Malleigh Powers.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Elaine Fettig. 

A celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2025 at Romney Brown Candle Company 170 Center St. Suite 1 Grayslake, IL 60030 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Please join us for some snacks and refreshments as we celebrate Joan’s life.
