Obituary's Biography:

Denise Marie Hughes, 63, a resident of Gages Lake, IL, passed away June 19, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 3, 1962, in Chicago, IL to Mary (nee: Heischberg) and Donald Fisher. Denise’s father Donald died unexpectedly while Denise was just 5 years old. Mary later married Ted Soder who Denise would affectionately know as “Dad” for more than 35 years.

The most important role Denise ever played was that of Mother and Grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself!

Denise is survived by her children: Tonia Estrada of Gages Lake, Heather Clark of Zion, Michael (Alyssa) Hughes of Antioch, Christopher Hughes of Zion; her grandchildren: Raymon Estrada of Gages Lake, Kennedy Hughes, Addison Hughes, and Gavin Hughes all of Antioch; and her siblings: Lynn (Rich) Legner of Downs, IL, Scott Soder of Gurnee, Pamela (Rob) Saam of Elm Grove, WI, Veronica Fisher of Ingleside, David (Christi) Fisher of Greenwood, AR, and Karen (Larry) Hildebrandt of Granger, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Mary Soder, her biological father Donald Fisher, her sister Cherie Weston, her brothers Ted Soder and Don Fisher, and her son-in-law Jim Clark.

A visitation and funeral service are scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2025, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL. 60030, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm with the service commencing at 5:00pm. A celebration of life with food and refreshments will be served at the Lindenhurst Park District, 2200 Grass Lake Rd. Lindenhurst, IL. 60046, immediately following the visitation.
