Obituary's Biography:
Arthur Jacob Harris, 89, a resident of Third Lake, IL, passed away, June 6, 2025, at Condell Hospital. He was born May 3, 1936, in Chicago, IL, to Thomas Wolf and Blanche (nee: Mott) Harris.
Arthur loved to talk with everyone, he never met a stranger and was known for coming up with a nickname or a number for each person, he also loved the art of bargaining. He was the life of the party due to his great sense of humor and his love for dancing to all types of music. Arthur had a passion for stereo equipment and loved to fix and repair cars and tractors. He loved his Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs with all his enthusiasm. Arthur was a collector of many things but the things he treasured most was his family; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was always there for his family, Arthur was truly loved by all and was a friend to everyone.
Arthur is survived by his children, Peggy (Michael) Berger of Zion, Lisa Harris of Lindenhurst, Tracy (Kevin) Heeres of Antioch, and Randy (Heidi) Harris of Antioch, his grandchildren Sean Berger, Jason (Maki) Berger, Brian (Minelly Cruz Montes) Leonhart, Steven Leonhart, Brianna (Justin) McDonald, Brandon (Jessica) Heeres, Austin Heeres, Justin (Kristy) Harris, Nichole Harris , and Danielle (Jeremy) Streich, his great grandchildren, Grace Streich, Rai Berger, Meru Berger, Lucas Cruz Leonhart, Sophia McDonald, Raleigh Harris and Whitaker Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carol, his daughter Renee Lingk, and his sister, Helene.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium in Grayslake, IL, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. I knew Art from his time at Wisconsin Central Railroad, where he was a key manager in our accounting operation. He was a good leader, particularly effective with younger employees, who he “adopted” for training. Additionally, Art was well regarded by everyone he dealt with, a good family man and friend. He will be missed…….
