Obituary's Biography:

It is with great sadness that the family of Scott Michael Wentz announces his passing into the arms of Jesus, on June 28, 2025, at the age of 60.

He was the beloved husband of his wife Cheryl Wentz (née Grubb); devoted father of his children Elisa (Jonathan) Metzger, Karis (Jackson) Wentz, Michael Wentz, and Emma Wentz; loving grandfather of Joanna Metzger; dear son of Joanne and Robert Wentz; cherished brother of Greg (late Julie) Wentz, Debbie (Charles) Seavey, and Karen (Charles) Swietlik; loved uncle of Matthew (Aubrey) Wentz, Timothy Wentz, Jeremy Seavey, Ashley Seavey, Aubrey Seavey, and Stephanie Swietlik; and treasured  son-in-law of Richard (late Elsie) Grubb.

Scott was born on February 9, 1965, and was raised in Rolling Meadows, IL.  In high school he became an accomplished saxophone player.  He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1987, where he studied chemical engineering and received his pilot’s license. Later, he earned his master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering.  Upon graduation, he worked at Motorola; there, he met his wife Cheryl and later married her in 1993.  They raised their four children in Grayslake, IL and for two and a half years in Tianjin, China.

A devoted husband, father, and follower of Jesus Christ, his joys in life included his wife, his children, his beautiful granddaughter, his friends, and his pets.  Scott was a musician (playing saxophone, flute, bass, and piano), a pilot, an excellent cook, and all-around handyman.  He had the ability to accomplish difficult tasks, evidenced by the fact that, among other things, he built an airplane that he flew over the ocean to the Bahamas three times with his wife and children.  His life was marked with generosity, adventure, creativity, and warmth. A friendly, loving, and outgoing spirit, Scott was most often the last one to leave a gathering of friends or even strangers.  His loved ones will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 3:30pm until 6:30pm, followed by a memorial service at 6:30pm at NorthBridge Church, 18724 IL-173, Antioch, IL 60002, with Gary Ricci officiating.

Donations may be made to the family on behalf of Emma’s college education.https://gofund.me/5994c69f
