Sharon Kay Siddon, age 76, of Carterville, IL, passed away on June 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born on April 18, 1949, in Robinson, IL, to Glenn and Hazel Gaddis. She spent her early childhood in Robinson before moving to Joliet, IL, at the age of 11. It was there she built a life filled with love and deep connections. Sharon later married Robert A. Siddon, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built their home and raised their family in Plainfield, IL, before relocating to Southern Illinois in 2019.
Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Glenn and Hazel Gaddis of Robinson, IL, and her devoted husband, Robert A. Siddon.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Tara Ann Siddon of Carterville, IL; her twin sister, Shirley Ann Gaddis of Joliet, IL; her brother, Ronald Gaddis of Robinson, IL; her cherished grandchildren: Dillon Blackburn (Brianna) of Carbondale, IL, Morgan Zabinski of Carterville, IL, and Marissa Bati of Carterville, IL; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Richard Gaddis (Brian) of Annapolis, IL, Kimberly Miller (Terry) of Joliet, IL, Rodney Gaddis (Jimmie) of Linn, MO, Regina Gaddis of Robinson, IL, Rhonda Collins (Rick) of New Lenox, IL, and Jimmie Hairald (Courtney) of Joliet, IL, and her aunt and uncle Rev. Samuel (Marilyn) Totten of Mt. Vernon, IL. Sharon also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her endless joy.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Lockport Central High School and continued her education by attending business classes at Joliet Junior College. She worked as a legal secretary for Pharmadent Credit Association before devoting herself fully to her most treasured roles as a homemaker, a loving mother, and a dedicated wife.
She was known affectionately as an expert blouse consumer, a title her family lovingly bestowed upon her. Sharon found beauty in every person she met and was admired for her unwavering kindness—she never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved all children and animals dearly, especially her cherished cat, Bunny, and her loyal dog, Bandit.
Sharon enjoyed swimming, bicycling, ceramics, and preparing delicious meals. Friends and family often traveled miles just for a glass of her famous iced tea with the “good ice.” Her lasagna became a family favorite and a treasured memory at many gatherings.
Sharon’s warmth, grace, and ability to make everyone feel valued will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Private family services were held. Internment was held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Sharon’s memory by performing a simple act of kindness for someone else, just as she would have done.
