Obituary's Biography:

Aloysius John Kaczmaryn, 88, a long time resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away on May 31, 2025 at The Laurel of Vernon Hills. He was born on September 15, 1936 in Waukegan, IL to Aloysius and Anne Kaczmaryn. He was the second oldest of six children and the only son. He was known affectionately by his family and friends as Butch or Al. He grew up in North Chicago where he helped out with many jobs at his parent’s store, Al’s Food Shop. After graduating from Waukegan High School in 1954, Al enlisted in the Air Force where he served for four years.

Al was an active member of St Joseph’s Parish in Round Lake for many years and St Gilbert’s Parish in Grayslake. He participated in the St Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus. Al was always helping others and putting the needs of everyone else above his own.

Upon retirement from OMC-Johnson Motors and Abbott Labs, Al stayed busy by volunteering daily with Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, often bringing his grandchildren along in the summer. He was a dedicated volunteer well into his 80s and earned several awards, including the Silver Plate award from Catholic Charities.

Al was a devoted father and a hands-on, loving grandfather who cherished every moment with his family. His daughters were his greatest pride and joy, the foundation of his world, and he never missed an opportunity to express his love and admiration for them. As a grandfather, he embraced every chance to create lasting memories, whether it was teaching his grandchildren the patience and skill of fishing, cheering them on from the sidelines at their local sporting events, or simply sharing stories that would leave them laughing. He was their biggest fan, their mentor, and a constant source of warmth and encouragement. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Al is survived by his daughters, Trish (Mike) Popiolek of Libertyville, Dorie (Glenn Resendez) Mink of Round Lake Beach, Jeanine (Jonathan) Adkins of Belvidere, andBarb (Francis) Razzano of State College, PA; his grandchildren, Brittany Stratford,Justin, Tyler and Tim Mink, Mac and Nic Adkins, Anna and John Razzano; eight great grandchildren; sisters Patricia (Dennis) Jermolowicz, Mary Merlock, Chris Thompson, and Linda Plier, along with many nieces and nephews.
