Theresa C. Galuska

Theresa C. Galuska (nee: Pasterski), 86 of Gurnee, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born on December 24, 1932 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to John and Helen Pasterski.  Teri grew up in Green Bay and later moved to Illinois where she met her late husband of 38 years, Linus Galuska.  Theresa was employed by General Binding Corporation for 28 years, retired, and later focused her energy on her grandchildren and babysitting.  She devoted her time to her family attending events and spreading joy to all who knew her.  Teri’s greatest joy was her family: 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless others who saw her as a mother, aunt, sister, grandmother and friend.   She will be missed for her unending wisdom, strength, fabulous cooking skills, fascinating memories, and her love of celebrating holidays with her family.  Heaven shines a little brighter with her soul, smile, and dancing shoes.  Theresa is survived by her children, Diane, Mary (Matt), Pat (Dave), John, and James; her 13 grandchildren: Justin, Nicole, Kirsten (Sal), Nate, Carri (Jason), Kevin (Lara), Cody, Tyler, Danai, Blake, Kyle, Brittney and Noah; and 7 great-grandchildren: Kayla, Trey, Savannah, Logan, Chase, Skyler, and Callie.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Linus, and her siblings: Germaine, Margaret, Robert, and William.  A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road in Grayslake, IL. 60030.  A burial mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 4th at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road in Gurnee, IL. 60031 at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be at All Saint Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to given to the family in memory of Theresa.  For more information, please call 847-223-8122 or visit strangfuneral.org. 

Camerina Moncada Mandujano

Camerina Moncada Mandujano, 81, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at her home. She was born August 17, 1938 in Mexico to Delfino Moncada and Petra Mandujano. Connie K. Kohnke

Connie K. Kohnke, 60, a resident of Lake Villa, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  She was born June 4, 1959 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Esther Kohnke.  Connie loved working at the schools in Round Lake as a secretary.  She enjoyed animals and especially loved kids.  Connie is survived by her mother Esther Kohnke; her brothers Mark (Pam) Kohnke and Anthony (Kelli) Kohnke; her nephews and nieces Mackenzie Kohnke, Amber Kohnke, Samantha Kohnke, and Sarah Kohnke, and Michiel Smolen, Joshua Smolen, and Nicholas Smolen; and her great-niece Avarie Harris.  She was preceded in death by her father, Charles, and her sister Jackie Kohnke.  A visitation and funeral service is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00pm with a funeral service commencing at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Donald P. Stoneberg

Donald Peter Stoneberg, age 83, a resident of Lake Geneva and formally of Grayslake, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.  He was born on November 9, 1935 in Chetek, WI to Arthur and Fern Stoneberg.  Don, known to many as Stoney and Uncle Stoney was a man of integrity and character with a great sense of humor.  Don served in the Army Honorably from 1960 to 1961.  He was a teamster for many years working for Skokie Valley and Curran Contracting.  Don was also a licensed Realtor. His favorite job was taking care of his Beautiful Wife Sandy, his Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children and his many Nieces and Nephews.  Don also cherished his many friends from his Grayslake Neighborhood, his fellow co workers and his Florida Crystal Lake Village friends.  Don was known to help anyone and loved to talk to anyone. Don’s love for farming and Allis Chalmers Tractors took him on many adventures.  He participated and loved to go to tractor shows.  Don loved to use his tractor to help family and friends with projects. Don is and was a great example on how to navigate and love life. Donald is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 58 years who he married on October 14, 1961 in Waukegan.  He is further survived by his daughter, Julie (David) Oatt of Bristol, Wis; his grandchildren, Kristy (Matt Mackay) Hanna, Katie (Erik) Malmstadt, Tyler Hanna, David Oatt, Jr, Grant Stoneberg, and Brock Ellis; his great grandchildren, Jayden, Hunter, Cayden, and Ophelia.  He is preceded in death by his son, Eric Stoneberg; 2 sisters, Jeanne Call and Doris Leable; brother, Richard Stoneberg and his parents.

A memorial visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a time of sharing memories at 7:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Duane H. Steffen

Duane H. Steffen, 69, of Grayslake, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. He was born December 30, 1949 in Marshfield, WI to Harry and Frances Steffen. He had three siblings who preceded him in death, Sharon Rivers nee Steffen, Don Steffen and Jerry Steffen. Duane married his wife of 51 years Joy Steffen, nee Clark on September 14, 1968. They have one daughter Amy Tasker nee Steffen, her husband Rich Tasker, Jr. Three grandchildren, Tucker, Haiden and Kamryn. Duane was loved by many including his brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins along with his very close friends. Duane was a truck driver for Grayslake Feed Sales, retiring in 2015 with 43 years of dedicated service. He loved taking long weekends camping where he would enjoy a great campfire with friends and reminisce about the good old days, play horseshoes and on the fall Sunday evenings watch his favorite football team the Green Bay Packers. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Round Lake Beach Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way, Round Lake Beach, IL 60073 from 2:30pm-6:30pm. We will be honoring the classic Duane-style and wear his favorite plaid/flannel shirts, jeans and boots. “Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it burned.”

Anthony Botman

Anthony “Anton” Botman, 85, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.  He was born May 3, 1934 in the Netherlands.  Anton immigrated to the United States in 1967.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus with St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake.  Anton enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and being part of the church choir, but Anton’s true passion was bicycling.  Anton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louisa, his children Caroline (Tom) Copenhaver, Marion (Brian) Wilson, Monique (the late David) Gonzalez, his grandchildren Krista (Jack) Dippold, Emilee Copenhaver, Haley Copenhaver, Andrew (Amy) Litchfield, Daniel Wilson, Lindsay Wilson, Sabrina Gonzalez and Alexandra Gonzalez, his great-grandchildren Lincoln Arkel and Henry Anton, and his siblings Jos Botman, Piet Botman, Wil Botman, and Agatha Botman.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jan and Dick Botman, and his sister Afje Botman.  A memorial visitation and service is scheduled from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. with a memorial service commencing at 7:00p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Katherine Moffatt

Katherine Moffatt, age 33, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.  She was born in Nottingham, England on March 23, 1986 to Sharon Ruff and Thomas Moffatt. Katherine is survived by her mother Sharon Ruff, her children Alex Ramirez, Alesia Ramirez, and Angelo Ramirez, the father of her children Javier Ramirez, her grandparents Charles and Angela St. Dennis, her aunt Julie St. Dennis, her uncles David and Dustin St. Dennis, and her cousins Jasmine, Conall, Elizabeth, Theo, Rosa, and Charlie.  A memorial visitation and service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm with the memorial service commencing at 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Phyllis I. Nelson

Phyllis I. Nelson, nee Sorensen, passed away on October 15, 2019.  Born in Chicago on September 1, 1927.  Her husband preceded her in death on May 4, 1992.  Surviving are her 2 daughters, Karen (Jim) Amann of Round Lake Park and Linda (Matt) Nelson-Bova of Lawrence, KS; and her 3 grandchildren, Matthew Amann, Gus Bova and Grace Bova.  All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Merle F. Pease

Merle Francis Pease, age 89, of Vernon Hills, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  She was born on July 26, 1930 in Steelton, PA to Walter and Mildred Siegfried.  Merle grew up in Steelton, PA where she met her husband of 69 years, Sam.  She was a graduate of Steelton High School.  She and her husband Sam attended and were married at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Steelton.  Merle was employed by Bell Telephone in her early years, and, after marriage, devoted her life to her family.  In more recent years, her greatest joy continued to be her family, her six grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren.  She will be missed for her sharp wit, strength, ability to recall all of the family history, and her love of celebrating the holidays with her family.  Today, Heaven shines a little brighter with her soul and smile a part of it.  And while here we share an unfillable void—we share it together.  And together, with you and her family, is where she loved being most.  Merle is survived by her husband of 69 years, Sam,  whom she married on August 26, 1950 in Steelton, PA; her children, Gregory (Jackie) of Grayslake and David (Julie) of Chicago;  her grandchildren, Nicole (Scott) of Grayslake, Tyler (Allyssa) of Sarasota, FL, Megan of Grayslake, Kristin (Travis) of Orlando, FL, Karen (Mike) of Orlando, FL, and Sam of San Francisco, CA; and five great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Arlene Kingston of Steelton, PA, Eugene Siegfried of Rohnert Park, CA and Merlin Siegfried of New Cumberland, PA.  A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2019 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road in Grayslake, IL 60030 followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 West Erhart Road in Mundelein at 11:00am.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or online at lung.org or to the National Direct Response Headquarters, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101, Hudson, WI 54016-9316 or action.lung.org.  For more information, please call 847-223-8122 or visit strangfuneral.org.  

Donald E. O’Machel

Donald E. O’Machel, 74, a resident of Wildwood, IL, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL.  He was born February 13, 1945 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Ann O’Machel.  Don was a Vietnam veteran having served for the US Navy.  Work was Don’s hobby, he worked in Tool and Die most of his career and was a part owner of the O’Salon and Spa and O’Machel Properties.  Don volunteered for the Classic Car Rally in Lake Geneva, WI.  Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna, his children Don E. (Patty) O’Machel Jr., Sean P. O’Machel, and Annmarie (Brian) Porras, his grandchildren Finn, Shea, McKenna, and Layla O’Machel, and his siblings Pat (Bob) Flaherty and Ray (Carla) O’Machel.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  A memorial visitation and memorial service is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00pm with a memorial service commencing at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E.
