Virginia M. Morrow, 101, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away on June 27, 2026. She was born on September 30, 1924 in Chicago to Timothy and Minerva Hammersmith.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia and Karen; her grandchildren, Robert (Ladda) and Randall; and her great grandchildren, Bailey, Bethany, Brooke, Matthew, and Nicholas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her daughter, Prudence; her son baby John; her son-in-law, Thomas; her grandson, Ryan;and her siblings, Louise, Bonnie, Mary, Florence, and Timothy.
Virginia (Ginny) lived a life defined by kindness, generosity and selflessness. She was devoted to her family & Catholic faith. Growing up her family attended St, Raphael's parish, where she attended elementary school. During her high school years she met the love of her life, Jack and upon his return from military service in the US Army they married in 1946 and were married for 62 years.
Ginny launched her career in the banking business. She began as a bank teller and over many years of hard work and dedication, she was promoted to Vice President of Personal banking, her willingness and desire to help others was always at the forefront of her family, banking career as well as in her faith and dedication to the Church, She was a Eucharist Minister and Adoration coordinator. Also, participated in numerous blood drives and many woman's community organizations.
In their years together, Ginny and Jack loved to travel. After retirement, they relocated to Sun City West, Arizona to enjoy the sunshine and to have fun bowling, golfing and other activities. They also loved to dance together.
After returning to Illinois in 2005, she loving cared for her husband Jack until his death in 2008. Ginny found comfort and support from her friends and family.
Ginny genuinely touched the lives of everyone with her warm smile, her positive spirit and found joy in life's simple moments.
Ginny was a guiding light and a source of unconditional love.
A Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W Erhart Road, Mundelein, IL 60060 on Friday, July 10th from 10am until 11am, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11am. Interment will be held privately. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.
