Theodore "Ted" F. Johnson

Theodore "Ted" Franklin Johnson III, 65, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026 at his home. He was born on August 25, 1960 in Chicago to Donald and Sally Johnson.

Ted was a dedicated and loving husband, father, papa, brother and friend who loved to spoil his family. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout and enjoyed being a part of the local fishing club. He was a highly skilled construction foreman, specializing in painting and a master chef who loved to throw down in the kitchen and made the perfect cookie every time. If they weren't perfect, he would eat them to destroy the evidence.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Johnson; his daughters, Jessica (Dustin) Hodge of Carpentersville, and Cassandra Johnson of Carpentersville; his grandchildren, Mariah Diaz, Sam Hodge, and Bradley Hodge, all of Carpentersville; his siblings, Theresa (Jim Rivera) Rice of Oceanside, CA, Laura (Brian) Schramm of Longmont, CO, Phil Johnson of Woodstock, and Cindy (Tina) Johnson of San Jacinto, CA; his mother in law, Judith (Israel) Lopez; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Donald Johnson.

A Visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 4pm until 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 10am. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, IL.
