Terrence E. Monahan, 81, of Grayslake, IL, passed away on April 24, 2025, at Brickford of Gurnee Assisted Living. He was born on December 9, 1943, in Chicago to Robert and Mary Monahan.
Terrence was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was the proud owner of TRM Electric and a dedicated union electrician. A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox, Terrence also had a love for western movies, especially those starring John Wayne. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether tending to his immaculate lawn and garden, relaxing on the front porch with a cocktail, swimming and boating, or organizing his garage. Terrence cherished traveling with his beloved bride and hosting gatherings, especially reunions with his elementary school friends. His loyal dog, Fuzzy, was always by his side. Terrence will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and love for family and friends.
Terrence is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosalie (nee: Revere), whom he married on February 14, 1970 in Chicago, IL; his children, Daniel (Carrie) of Austin, TX, and Kelly (Brent) Thelen of Fox Lake, IL; his grandchildren, Andrew of Austin, TX, Paige of Austin, TX, Mallory of Austin, TX, Madalyn Ihnatiuk of Fox Lake, IL, Hamilton Thelen of Fox Lake, IL, and Collin Thelen of Fox Lake, IL; his sisters, Margaret (Jim) Marren of Lake Geneva, WI, and Mary (Rich) Marcheschi of Hinsdale, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant twin sons, Timothy and Terrence Monahan; his brother Dennis P. Monahan; his parents; his parents-in-law, David and Rose Revere.
A Visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 320 S. Washington Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068 on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10am. Interment will be held at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016 immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sturge-Weber Foundation, 6105 S. Main Street #200, Aurora, CO 80016.
