Sonja “Lavaughn” Barnes

Sonja "LaVaughn" Barnes, age 86, a resident of Round Lake, IL and Pewaukee, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 14, 2024 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI.  She was born on January 18, 1938 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Paul and Myrtle Runions.  LaVaughn loved going out for ice cream, listening to country music and going to Old Country Buffet. She enjoyed her job and retired from Athletic Sewing. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

LaVaughn is survived by her grandchildren, Melissa (Josh) Quartana and Cameron Barnes; her daughter-in-law, Donna Barnes; great grandchildren, Giana and Gio Quartana; and sister-in-law, Diane Runions.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dave; her beloved son, David; and her siblings, Paul Runions and Margie Runions.

A Funeral Service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 1pm.  A visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral chapel from 11am until 1pm at the time of service.  Interment will be held at Grant Cemetery.
