Russell Richard Jung, 67, of Round Lake Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on November 1, 2026. He was born on August 12, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard and Shirley Jung.
Russell was a hardworking, intelligent, and resourceful man who had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether he was tending to his garden, grilling a delicious meal, or baking homemade bread, he took pride in the things he did and found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Beneath his hardworking nature was a heart filled with love for his family, friends, and beloved pets. Russell cherished the time he spent with those closest to him, especially during family holidays and gatherings.
Russell will be remembered for his sharp mind, his capable hands, his generous heart, and the quiet but meaningful ways he showed his love. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marie; his daughter, Callie (Dard) Mendones of Tucson, Arizona; his cherished grandchildren, Emi and Elijah Mendones of Tucson, Arizona; his sister, Nancy (Jack) Logterman of Roscoe; his nieces and nephews, Amy (Jeff) Petty of Rockton, Mandy (Trevor) Meiborg of Poplar Grove, and Jonny Logterman of Roscoe; and his great-nephew, Gebriel Petty. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Richard and Shirley Jung, whose memory remained close to his heart.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, Illinois 60030. A private interment will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois, at a later date.
