Rosemary Peterkort, 88, passed away on August 30, 2020. She was born to Ed and Lillian Taylor in 1932. The family moved from the city of Chicago to the small resort town of Round Lake in 1941. She attended Grant High School in Fox Lake and enrolled in beauty school in Waukegan. Rosemary earned her Cosmetology license at the age of 17 and worked in Betty's Pretty Shop in downtown Round Lake. She married Justin Earl Morse and moved to the west coast in 1950 where he was stationed with the Marine Corps. After becoming a widow in 1965, she moved her daughters to Round Lake, Illinois to be close to her parents.  She owned and operated a local beauty shop until marrying Ben Peterkort in 1968. They welcomed two daughters and lived in Round Lake until 2000 after which they moved to a retirement community in Grayslake. She frequently volunteered at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in the Altar Guild Society, Religious Education Program and the Doers Club. Her other long-time passion was volunteering at the Hastings Lake YMCA to lead group sessions of the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. She is preceded in death by her brother, parents and both husbands. She is survived by her five daughters, Roxanne Morse, Lisa Jackson, Jan Struck (Ed), Jennifer Akin (Steve), and Julie Peterkort as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her final resting place will be with her first husband at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. A memorial mass in her name will be said at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Round Lake.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Chicago IL.
