Nan E. Rockwell

Nan Rockwell, 66 Nan Eileen Rockwell, age 66 of Grayslake, IL, passed away suddenly after an illness on Friday, November 14, 2014. She was born to the late Fran and Stuart Shoger on June 21, 1948. Nan attended East Aurora High School, before attending Illinois State University. She was a great Navy wife, an active member in the community and taught English at Grayslake Middle School for more than 20 years. Nan particularly enjoyed the poems of Edgar Allen Poe, and much to her student's dismay, loved diagramming sentences. Family and friends were Nan's passion and joy. She was a doting grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren. Nan is survived by her husband Jim Rockwell, son Ben Rockwell (Julie) and daughter Emily Kane (Joe), as well as her sister Carole Datta and brothers Mark Shoger and Steve Shoger. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Lucy Rockwell (10), Molly Rockwell (9), Layla Kane (8), Addison Kane (6) and Eli Kane (3). Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th from 3pm to 7pm at Strang Funeral Home located on Route 120 in Grayslake, IL. The funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 19th at 10am at Strang Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (http://www.lls.org/).
