Mary E. Lenzen

Mary E. Lenzen, 73, of Lindenhurst, Illinois, passed away on October 26, 2026.

Mary was born on February 14, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edna and James Bittner. She grew up in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood and shared her childhood with her older sister, Dory Coleman (Husband Ron) of Winnetka, Illinois, who survives her, and older brother James (Jimmy) Bittner (deceased).

Mary spent the last 50 years living in Lake County, Illinois, where she raised her family, including her surviving children, Lawrence (Larry) Major III of Florida and Christina Blair (Husband Christopher) of Elm Grove, Wisconsin. During much of that time, she worked at Westmoreland OB-GYN in Lake Forest IL, where she formed lifelong friendships with both colleagues and patients.

Mary married her surviving husband, Larry Lenzen, in 1999, and they spent their entire marriage together in Lindenhurst IL. Larry and Mary were known as a fun-loving couple who enjoyed many activities together, especially their favorite pastime: taking cruise vacations to destinations around the world. Mary was also a loving mother and friend to Larry's children, Loren, Derek, Michael, and Ruthanne, and treasured the relationships they shared.

Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Isabelle and Logan Mikkelson, children of Christina. She was a devoted grandmother who found some of her greatest happiness in the time she shared with them. Whether celebrating holidays and birthdays or enjoying family vacations, the moments spent with her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren through Larry's children, all of whom were touched by her warmth, kindness, and love.

Mary's kindness, laughter, and love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Memorial Service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 12 noon. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. Interment will be held privately.
