Leonard James Wood

Leonard James Wood, 87, of Round Lake Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois, on August 20, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1938, in El Paso, Texas, to Leonard J. Wood Sr. and Claudia Belle Lane.

Lenny (Woody) will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He liked to tease and make people laugh. He had many different kinds of jobs but loved driving a semi-truck the most. Leonard served in the Navy and came home to El Paso, Texas to take care of his Great-Grandmother who had raised him. On February 8, 1974, Leonard married the love of his life, Shirley, in Illinois where they made their home together. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 52 year, Shirley Wood; and by his children, James (Kris Silver) Wood of Grayslake, Illinois, Michael Wood of South Beloit, Illinois, Leslie Bravo of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, and Terri (Bill) McCord of Piedmont, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Alexandra Wood of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Antonio Bravo of Brighton, Colorado, Stella (Alex Packer) Bravo of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Rena (Aurrelio) Chavez of Brighton, Colorado, Ilana (Jeremy) Sailas of Fr. Morgan, Colorado, and Sam McCord of Piedmont, Alabama. Leonard is also survived by his 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Leonard is also survived by his brother, Bill Farlow of Round Rock, Texas.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Wood Sr.; his siblings, Sharon Roe of El Paso, Texas, and Garry Wood of El Paso, Texas; and his sister-in-law, Claudia Farlow of Round Rock, Texas.

A memorial service for Leonard will be held at a later date at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Save-A-Pet, Inc. or the the Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Leonard.
