John C. Kerjake

John C. Kerjake, 65, passed away on June 22, 2026. He was born on December 18, 1960 in Berwyn, IL to Peggy (nee Geer) and John J. Kerjake.

John is survived by his wife, Sherry, of 41 years whom he married on April 12, 1985 in Maywood, his children, Christina (Brandon Drohner) Kerjake of Milwaukee, WI and Katherine (John) Barry of Antioch, IL; his grandchildren, John Barry III of Antioch, Elliott Kerjake of Milwaukee, WI, and Everleigh Barry of Antioch; his siblings, Mike Kerjake of Summit, and Pamela (Steve) Tarrant of New Lenox; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family more than anything. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment he was able to spend with them. Over the last five years, many of his happiest memories were made camping on weekends with his family, creating countless stories and memories that will be cherished forever. John loved fishing and was living his dream enjoying retirement on the lake in Alabama.

To many, John was known for his tough exterior and strong presence, but those who truly knew him saw the soft, loving teddy bear underneath. He was incredibly knowledgeable and could always be counted on for a good political debate. His strength, humor, wisdom, and love will leave a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. John will be deeply missed, especially by his grandchildren, who held such a special place in his heart.

A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 9am until 11am, with a Funeral Service beginning at 11am.
