John J. Jonker

John Joseph Jonker, age 75, a resident of Kenosha, WI passed away on September 24, 2022 at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, WI.  He was born on July 6, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Johannes Joseph Jonker and Magdalen C. (nee Franciscus) Jonker.

John retired from the Postal Service after 37 years, served as a Trustee on the Round Lake Heights Village Board, and was a part of the St. Joseph Centennial Celebration Anniversary.  He loved traveling, building model trains, researching his genealogy and was a history buff.

John is survived by his siblings, James (Helen) of Woodstock, Joe (Debra) of Hebron, and Janet (Steve) Sanders of Georgia; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Jonker and his parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gilbert Catholic Church on Thursday, September 29, 2022 on at 10:00 a.m.  A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 3:00pm until 7:00pm.  Interment will be held immediately following Mass at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to the American Cancer Society.  For more information, please call (847)223-8122 or visit www.StrangFuneral.org .
