James E. Nykol

James Edmund Nykol, Jr., age 91, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away on November 29, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 9, 1933 in Chicago to James and Cecelia (nee Hawkinson) Nykol.

James, a loving husband is survived by his wife, Carol, of 67 ½ years whom he married on May 4, 1957 in Chicago; an amazing father to his children, Jay of Seattle, WA, and Chris (Barbara) of Oklahoma City, OK; a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren, Aaron of Seattle, WA, Krissy of Seattle, WA, Grace (Christina) of Chicago, Celia of Arlington Heights, and Kate of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as his great grandchild, Aries of Seattle, WA; and his daughter-in-law, Cleo.  He is preceded in death by his son, Ross; his sister, Ceil; and his parents all of whom he loved and adored.

James served honorably in the Naval Reserve for 13 years, worked at Safeco Ins. Co. for 41 years and was a Surety Claims Representative.  He was also a member of the BOE Elks Club in Des Plaines, a member of the YMCA, an avid handball player, a golfing enthusiast, and a lifetime member of the Neighborhood Boys Club, all of which he enjoyed and was very proud of.

A memorial visitation and service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on December 14 ^th , 2024 from 1:00pm until  2:00 pm with the service commencing at 2:00pm.
