Gene E. Holmquist Sr.

Gene E. Holmquist, Sr., 85, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away April 27, 2023.  He was born December 15, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Roy and Dorothy (nee: Franchi) Holmquist.

Gene grew up in Chicago and raised his family in Arlington Heights.  He worked in finance for most of his career in the food industry after obtaining his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University in accounting.

Gene is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ginger Holmquist, his sons Gene Jr. (Patty) Holmquist of Chandler, AZ, Jeff (Lisa) Holmquist of Deer Park, IL, Jim Holmquist of Burnham, IL, and John Holmquist of Kearny, AZ, his grandchildren Taylor (Tyler) Robertson of Scottsdale, AZ, Ben Holmquist of Palatine, IL, Christine Holmquist of Chicago, IL, Cody Holmquist of Mesa, AZ, and Vincent Holmquist of Chandler, AZ, his great-grandchild Croix, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Roy (Carol) Holmquist of Ellison Bay, WI, Nancy Conrad of Chicago, IL and Betty (Frank Sr.) Slazes of Lake Villa, IL.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 17, 2023 at 5:00pm at the Lake Lodge in Saddlebrook Farms, 2601 Saddlebrook Drive, Grayslake, IL 60030.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1 ^st Street Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
