Fred Gewalt

Fred Gewalt, age 74, of Spring Grove, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at Victory Assisted Living in Lindenhurst. He was born July 13, 1941 in Chicago to Karl and Olga (nee Ysla) Gewalt.  Fred loved fishing, coaching kids sports, Western movies and, most of all, he loved being with his family.  He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, whom he married 49 years ago in Fox Lake on April 8, 1967; his children, Karl Josef (Ellen) of McHenry, Kristin of Spring Grove, and Paul (Nicole) of Grayslake; his grandchildren, Karly, Brooke, Eleni, Morgan, Kyla and Jack; and one sister, Debbie (George) Pugh of Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Friends of the family may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, Il 60030.  Memorial contributions may be made to www.semperfifund.org.  For information, call 847-223-8122 or visit www.strangfuneral.org.
