Eric Joseph Armstrong

January 18th, 1976 to April 22nd, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric Joseph Armstrong, age 50.

Born in LaSalle, Illinois, and a longtime resident of Round Lake Beach, Eric lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and generosity. He spent many years as a dedicated mechanic at Dave’s Transmissions, where his skill and commitment earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. He also worked as a grocery clerk at Meijer, serving his community with the same dependable spirit up until his passing.

Eric truly loved life. He was known for his selfless nature and his willingness to help anyone in need—often described as the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. If someone needed help, he was always there, no questions asked. His caring heart and steady presence made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He also had a deep love for the American Bald Eagle and Dirt Track Racing at Wilmot Speedway.

He is survived by his loving mother, Norma Armstrong; his siblings, Randy Sieling, Wendy Updegraff (Jose Maldonado), John Armstrong III, Pamela Armstrong, and his twin sister, Peggy Parker (Raymond Pruchniak). He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews; Mark Melton Jr. (Michelle Biggs), Ashley Melton (Tim Cotton), Steven Melton, Brianna Mehl, Kimberly Parker, Tyler Parker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, John Armstrong; his grandmother, Ruth Murphy; and grandparents, Bob and Rose Stone.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Sharky’s, 601 Railroad Avenue, Round Lake, IL 60073. There will be a small service held at 6pm. All arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.

Eric will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his generosity, his strength, and the love he gave so freely to others.
