Ellen (Jean) Hazard, 89, of Grayslake IL, passed away September 16, 2016 with family by her side.  Ellen was born in Star, OK on 11/14/26.  She moved to the Zion area after her marriage to Theodore Hazard on December 29, 1945.  They were married 24 years until his death in 1970.  Ellen worked at Zion businesses, One Hour Martinizing, Ehler's Lanes, Rittenhouse Grocery, Zion Bread Store and the Zion Restaurant.  She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and old country music but most of all she enjoyed having her family around.  She loved every minute of the visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  They were the highlight of her life.  Ellen is survived by her sons, Charles of Zion and Larry of Gurnee; daughters, Kathy Cherry of Wickenburg, AZ and Joyce Hazard of Waukegan; one sister, Leona Gossett of Keota, OK; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Illinois, Wisconsin, California and Tennessee. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore, parents, William Washington and Frances Viola Lee of Starr, OK, son, Richard of Huntland, TN, daughter, Judy Hartly of Salem, WI, brothers, Frank Lee of Keota, OK, Leonard Lee of Stockton, CA, Robert Lee of Keota OK, Charlie Lee of Starr, OK,  and sisters, Leathie Gossett of Keota, OK and Etha Nance of Stigler, OK. A memorial visitation and service is scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm with the memorial service commencing at 6:00pm, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E.
