Eladia A. Suris, 98, of Grayslake,IL. passed away September 28, 2025 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born February 27, 1927 in Cuba to Eladio and Amalia Milanes. She graduated from the University of Havana with a PhD in Education in 1951. Eladia married Rodolfo A. Suris on June 11, 1952. They emigrated to the United States and settled in Ohio and eventually moved to Grayslake and joined the St. Gilbert Parish in 1956. From there, she worked as the office manager for her sister & brother in-law, Dr. Dulce Milanes and Dr. Sergio Fuentes, until retiring in 2013.

"Amalita" was morally strong and highly intelligent, as well as a woman of deep faith. She guided her flock through good times and bad, always putting "Family First", even at her own expense. She was a pillar of strength for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was always a listening ear for anyone who needed it. She spent her many decades tirelessly working to resolve everyone's problems, an insurmountable task which she was determined to see through. Eladia gave many "lectures": legendary speeches designed to motivate and inspire us all to new heights. Her life well-lived, full of generosity, empathy, and love, is a shining example to all of what it means to be human.

She is survived by her children George E. Suris, Lourdes Suris-Longtin (Terry), and Doris (Rey) Martinez, her grandchildren Joshua Suris, Justin (Jenny) Suris, Jason Suris, Michele (Joe) Suris-Rosene, Rudy Suris, Ryan (Lesly) Martinez, and Austin (Heather) Martinez, her great-grandchildren Brihanna Suris, Riley Rosene, Olivia Suris, Daniel Johnson, Delaney Sheridan ,Shaylee Sheridan and Mia Martinez. Her niece and nephew Dulce Brandt and Sergio Fuentes. She was preceded in death by her husband Rodolfo Suris, her son Edward Suris, and her siblings Dr. Dulce (Dr. Sergio Fuentes) Milanes, Eladio Milanes, Desiderio Milanes, and Cesar Milanes.

A private service for family was held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 3pm Strang Funeral Home in Grayslake. She will be interred at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee alongside her husband and son.
