Edward Skowron

Edward Skowron, age 84, of Grayslake, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at his home.  He was born November 28, 1935 in Chicago to William and Helen (Kolodziej) Skowron.  Edward loved all Chicago sports teams, bought lottery tickets daily, and played the slots.  He also enjoyed reading just a sports section of the paper. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy, whom he married on July 30, 1966; four children, Joan (Jim) Swanson of Arizona, Mary (Tim) Kain of Illinois, Len Phelps of Illinois and Lisa (George) Strauss of Illinois; his grandchildren, Jason Kain of Illinois, Eddy Phelps of Pennsylvania, Alan Phelps, Josepheen Strauss, Daniella Strauss and Bradley Strauss, all of Illinois; and his great-grandchild, Korben Kain of Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Loida; one brother, Bill (Moose) Skowron; and one sister, Jean Matuszewski.  A visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 3, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road in Gurnee, IL with funeral mass commencing at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Marytown. All arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  For information, please call 847-223-8122 or visit www.strangfuneral.org .
