Carol L. Abbinanti

Carol Lee Abbinanti, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.  She was born on January 9,1942 in Elwood, Indiana to Hurlbert and Elizabeth (Sackman) Gillespie.  She attended elementary and high school in Waukegan, graduating from Holy Child High School in 1959.

Carol married Donald Phillip Abbinanti in 1966, and they subsequently resided and raised their family in Lisbon, Maine, Mundelein and Libertyville, eventually retiring to Grayslake. Carol was a long-time administrative assistant for Gustafson Body Shop in Mundelein. Among her other pursuits, Carol loved to work crossword puzzles and traveled extensively with her husband.

Family always came first in Carol's life. She is survived by her children, Jack (Julie) Abbinanti, Catherine (Peter) Greenlaw and Michael Abbinanti; her grandchildren, Daniel (Megan) Abbinanti, Dale Abbinanti, Lily Abbinanti and Jessie Greenlaw; and two great grandchildren, Chase and Lennox.  She is also survived by three siblings, Florence Ann Martino, Sharon Harder and Dick Gillespie.  Preceding her in death are her husband, Donald, and siblings, Herbert Gillespie and Jeri Whitson.

Due to current circumstances, no services are scheduled.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
