Beverly H. Hubbard, age 67, a long-time resident of Grayslake, passed away November 23, 2018 after a hard-fought battle against breast cancer. Bev demonstrated her kindness, loving spirit and bravery until the end. As a devoted member of the Lake County community, Bev worked 30 years at the College of Lake County, retiring in 2014 from the Foundation Office, where she helped raise scholarship money for students. She was also active in the Exchange Club of Grayslake, The Lakes Region Watercolor Guild as Membership Chair, Chicago Calligraphy Collective as Vice President, and a Lake County Election Judge volunteer. Bev was a member of St. Gilbert Church in Grayslake. Bev enjoyed taking day trips to hiking destinations with her husband, Kurt, kayaking on Grayslake where she lived for 41 years, and running her business—Calligraphy by Bev—in which she both penned and taught calligraphy and cursive writing. Born July 8, 1951 in Chicago, IL, Bev is survived by her husband of 46 years Kurt L. Hubbard, daughters Jennifer Hubbard and Kate Hubbard (Brian Heath), sister Bonnie Hollifield, as well as many other family members. Bev is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph Bartell and Bernice Bartell (Schroeder). A visitation/mass will be held in Bev's honor on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the St. Gilbert Chapel, 301 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake at 10:00am until 11:00am with the mass starting at 11:00am. Immediately following, the family invites attendees to join them at a lunch/open house at The Vine restaurant in downtown Grayslake from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. A private family burial will take place on Sunday, December 30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the CLC Foundation in Bev's memory.
