Bernadine E. Shymanski

Bernadine "Bernie" E. Shymanski, age 96, a resident of Gurnee, passed away on February 7, 2022 at her home.  She was born on July 19, 1925 in Chicago to Helen and Stewart Love.  Bernie was a registered nurse at Lutheran General for over 20 years.  She was a longtime resident at Victory Lakes Independent Living.

Bernie is survived by her children, Donald Townsend of Chicago, Diane Blake of Gurnee, Lynda Claver of Gurnee, and David Townsend of Falmouth, ME; her grandchildren, James Townsend of Chicago, Rebecca Palmer of Lucas, TX, Judith Bautel of Seattle, WA, Katherine Blake of Libertyville, Brittany Santos of Lindenhurst, Steven Claver of Skokie, and Edward Townsend of Somerville, MA; her 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; and her sister, Nita Shallow.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Shymanski, her son, James Shymanski; her brother, Stewart Love; and her sister, Shirley Kussman.

A funeral service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 12:00pm.  A visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service.  Interment will take place at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Grayslake Animal Shelter.
