Barbara Gielow was born in Evanston, IL on May 24th 1938. Barbara lived her life full of love for her family and time with them is what she loved the most.
Barbara is proceeded in death by her parents, Bob and Betty Ahl and her late husband Terry Gielow. She leaves behind her wonderful, huge family including her sisters Peg Steinberg and Karen Casper, her children Tracy Sugar (Mark), Kathy Mider, Scott Gielow and Maureen Straub. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 15 great grand children, and dozens of great nieces and nephews with her passing.
Barbara was an avid lover of horses; she spent her time learning all there is to know about them, visiting them and even drawing them. Barbara also enojyed arts beyond drawing including reading and painting. She loved nature in all its forms and found beauty in it all. Where there was art or nature, Barbara could find inspiration for her next best project. Barbara also enjoyed playing golf, going to plays and seeing musicals. In her later years Barbara made many friends at her residence whom she enjoyed the company of often.
She will be missed greatly for her love of the arts, her incredible deep love for her family, and last but not least her undying love and dedication to the Dooley Brothers.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10am until 11am. A Memorial Service will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11am. Interment will be held privately. For more information, please call (847)223-8122.
